^Youre skirting very close to the "blame the victim" here. Sandusky was the master of setting all of this up. The charity organization everything was a pedophiles dream come true. So lets not start blaming the parents who were just as hoodwinked and lied to as the kids.

his uncaring press conference (ending with a Penn State cheer of all things) , in the wake of a CHILD rape scandal that he had a prominent role in, is kind of all I will ever think of when JOPA's name comes up.

Denier, naive, call it whatever you will, but how he handled all of that diminishes any "leader" work he ever did in my eyes.

My wishes go out to his family, but not him unfortunately. shrug

I agree 100%. He should have done more. Everyone's bringing up 2002, what about the 1998 report? How much did Paterno actually know? Great coach, but for me, his legacy is tainted.

I agree, and I think I said something like that in my very first post in this thread. But then somewhere along the way this thread went all mental. Started saying things like Paterno saw it happen, Paterno was a molester, Paterno did nothing, etc. None of that is true, unless there are people in this thread who posses facts that a ten year long investigation was unable to turn up. He should have done more to follow-up on what he reported, he said so himself. But he WAS NOT the criminal. He was not the child molesting monster.

Edit: A E I O Uuuuuu....

My apologies.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

But Joe Paterno set himself and Penn State up as the moral authority of college football. The university was considered a place where "unlike other universities, we do things the right way". That's what I always hear from PSU grads. So damn straight folks are upset with him for not going above and beyond to stop that monster and protect those kids. This is a man presidents wanted an audience with - he WAS Penn State. Did he really not know how to handle this, or did he(and the board) keep this shit in-house to protect the 'Penn State brand', as Mike Francesca said on his show? My gut feeling tells me it's the latter. If I'm right, then he can rot in hell, as another orger said. Unfortunately, with him gone, we'll never get the whole story.

I wonder what Paterno would have done if it was HIS grandson in the shower with Sandusky.

How are you gonna say 'he could and should have done more, and then turn around and say leave him alone'?? Just another example of how disgusting people can be. I don't know how any of these people who knew about this were ever able to sleep at night.

How?

Let's get the criminals away from children first, at least.

Why aren't you going after the children's parents? Where were they?

Are you serious? I'm sure they did not think they're children were going to get molested at Penn State. My kids go there 2 weeks out of the summer for camp. Call me crazy but I thought they'd be safe there. lol

But now I've made a mental note. Places my children can't go. Catholic School. Michael Jacksons House. And Penn State. ?????? C'mon.

I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies
Whats it all worth only the heart can measure
It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside

It sounds like the dude did his job to me. Report the alleged incident to his superiors. That should be his responsibility taken care of.

The ones higher up that he reported to should be the ones held accountable from that point on IMO. Why would Joe conduct his own investigation when the higher ups should be taking care of that? His job is to coach football, not to administrate school staff conduct matters. First of all, he didn't see anything...the informtion he recieved was 2nd hand and he rightly reported it.

The animosity toward him just doesn't make sense to me.

What, here or in public? I do commend him for reporting it to be honest, I just wished he did a background check but he's (Paterno) not to blame for this. Anyways, may he rest peacefully. Now Sandusky, he can rot for all I care. confused
