What are you addicted to?

Doesn't have to be crack cocaine or something like that necessarily, but I'm not talking about just really being into 'Real Housewives' either. Proper addictions, things you need every day, that you're discombobulated or distressed without.

For me, I've gotta say cigarettes. I've given up several times. I've cut back for a few weeks only to smoke more again. Right now I smoke a little over a pack per day and I can be a real asshole if I have to go without.

Alcohol is my other one. I was pretty bad for a couple of years and now I drink one 640ml bottle of beer every 2 days, plus one or two nights out a month when I drink a lot more, and that's taken a fair bit of effort. I think I'm doing well but I'm still far from being totally in control of it. This addiction crept up on me and for ages I never really realised how much I was drinking and that it wasn't actually normal. Now I feel I'm drinking more like a 'normal' person, but I still feel like it has its hold on me.

So how about you?

Sugar. Processed sugar, to be more specific. My addiction to it is driving me crazy.

I used to be addicted to both cigarettes and Diet Coke. And I mean extremely addicted to both. The fact that I quit both of them cold turkey gives me hope that I can give up the sugar too, but it's frustrating to me right now that I'm still struggling with it.

I love coffee and wine, too. Maybe I'm addicted, but I have no desire to give either of those up. Life wouldn't be living without those necessities. biggrin

I´m not addicted to anything but I know I drink a lot of coffee and tea and I should eat less carbs.

I gave away my PS2 and never bought a current generation console and I won't say it hasn't caused me great pain, but it's worked. I make do with far simpler and often older games on the PC that only entertain me for a few days at a time. smile

The internet.

I could live without it if I wanted to, but on the days I'm not going out, I'll always go on the computer log in on msn/facebook and talk to my friends, and now I'll come on here for a while. Even if none of my friends are online I'll keep my laptop by my side, if I'm on a computer I won't bother. Sad but true lol

When I was younger, me and a couple of my friends were obsessed with The Sims 2, we'd play on it for hours, I don't know how I could do that now!

Lawd. I hadn't even thought of the internet. Yeah... I might not do so well without it.

The Sims 2 lol I played the original a LOT. Final Fantasy VII I used to run home from school during lunchtime to play for just 20 or 30 minutes. It was nearly 10 mins each way. falloff

I get addicted really really easily to anything that's intricate. Often these addictions will last for about a year or more and sometimes they'll be only a few months. I guess these are more compulsions rather than addictions as they're things like modelmaking and other intricate, complicated things.

The one thing I'm truly and honestly addicted to is solitude. Crowds of people, gatherings, parties, shopping malls etc make me go postal. disbelief

Also I probably couldn't give up coffee. If I was in hospital I'd need it in an IV drip.

On the train back from the NSJFvI talked 2 a girl and said coffee was my only addiction. She replied: and Prince, if you've seen him 20 times.
So I guess that's it.
Oh, and if I don't sketch & draw & make comic strips, I don't live. Like Prince and music. coffee

It sounds silly but in a moment of clarity I knew I had to get rid of my GTA4 - so I put it on eBay after yet another 5 hour binge. It was really getting out of hand.

Prince music. But, I do listen to other people, just not as much as I listen to Prince's music. music

I like sugar and fatty foods. I consume too much of it. I'm not fat or anything-but it's not good for you. neutral

mad I would be addicted to video games-if allowed myself to play them. Let's just say one of my computers came with a video game on it and I played it 8 hours straight. So, I don't play video games.

And last but not least style. Must have it at all times everyday. cool

It sounds silly but in a moment of clarity I knew I had to get rid of my GTA4 - so I put it on eBay after yet another 5 hour binge. It was really getting out of hand.

I still have mine and I even bought the additional game Episodes From Liberty City, which includes The Lost And The Damned and the spectacular The Ballad Of Gay Tony.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the GTA IV games and I think a 5 hour binge is nothing. There were times during my summer break when I played much longer than that (but I broke a bone and couldn´t really do much anyway, and didn´t have to go to work, so that´s one reason).

It´s all good as long as you don´t neglect your daily duties. I don´t regret a single minute of playing that game and I can´t wait for GTA V to be released.

Great, great game.

Sometimes I miss those dudes I got acquanted with during the game, like Little Jacob, Roman and the girls. Then I play half an hour and it still feels great.

Great storyline, too.

I used to be a real caffeine junkie. I'd wake up with the blinding headache until I drank a can of Pepsi or a cup of tea.
