I use both, I bought a PC laptop because it was cheaper, and use a Mac at work

I do think the Mac "windows" is a little cleaner than the PC Windows. I am not crazy about start menu in a PC. Mac's finder makes it all easy for you.

If money was not an option, I probably would have gotten a Mac, it is a bit more stylish, and of course viruses are not really a threat at the moment. But I am totally happy with the PC too. My old desktop from 2003 still works fine, too. Never had any issues with XP, and 7 is good too.

Mac OS can be as annoying as Windows. Seriously.

Whether one is better than the other is up to you to decide and it depends on the use you give it.

I'll just leave it at this. 3 years ago, my wife would get a virus on her pc at least once every 2-3 months. I got tired of fixing the problems and just gave her one of my mac-pro laptops. I have not had 2 deal with that nonsense since.

Macs are low maintenance but high priced. Windows is high maintenance and low priced. I'm so relaxed with my mac but it acts up sometimes. Had it for almost 4 years and works just fine. Though it does go through emo moments like once a every two months.

Succinct. lol But I've never had problems with my Windows machines.

Windows with the constant updates and virus nonsense drives me crazy. I use both, buy clearly prefer the Mac in every single way.

That's why I turned off my automatic updates a while ago. It was actually eating up my memory.

I might buy a Mac laptop in the future but I don't mind my PC desktop.

It all depends, if you like sitting around waiting for the thing to load up then get a (PC).

If your like me you just like to open it and it works straight away with no fuss and bother get a (Mac).

I had my first mac three years ago, and it's still as quick as when it first came out of the box.And there's no fapping around with internet security, the whole experience is just so simple and it works without the use of half a dozen drop down boxes for one simple application.... mac

It would be a laptop and I insist on an "Antiglare" display, so - as I understand it - that would limit my choices to 15-inch-or-greater MacBook Pro's?

I owned a Mac a long-ass time ago, so my experience with that desktop is really useless.

Aside from aesthetics and less worries about malware, why should I buy one of these over a Windows machine? hmmm

Alternatively, Windows-people, feel free to chime in and tell me why I should stick with a PC.

How do you use your machine? Your decision might be swayed depending on how you use your computer.

As someone mentioned with gaming, there are some limitations with software and hardware compatability with Macs.

For personal use, I've used Macs for 10+ years (25 years - if you count the old apple computer).

I still use a work-issued PC on the job.

You've heard most of the reasons why I am a mac person:

faster start up

easier file sharing

dual operating systems

instictive for just about everything

better freeware/shareware options

better security

better standard apps already included

Macs are really gorgeous.

They're also really expensive, and you have to jump hoops to even be able to run most programs on them since most programs are created for PCs that use WINDOWS.

They're both all right. I work on both regularly, and I don't have all that dissimilar an experience.

Because of the way I work, I have certain "ticks" (or whatever you want to call them) that define how fast and efficiently I work. For example, I use alt+tab to switch windows constantly. On a Mac, you can't do that as well--you can only alt+tab through programs, not individual windows. So that's annoying.

Because of very minor, little things like that--plus the very major issue of pricing--I like PCs better still. I would have no reservations about buying a Mac, though.

Hmm, not really true. I'm constantly using the 'All Windows' feature which is set as default for F9.

Press F9 and every window that is open for all programs spead out over the screen and you choose which window to go to. That is default on all Macs with something called 'Expose' which can all be customised anyway in System Preferences - Macs nicer 'Control Panel'.

E.G

This is something that is essential to me now. Mac design just beats Windows in terms of being user friendly, simple and altogether nicer to look at (OS and the machine).

I don't know how to use a non-Mac machine boxed I've been using them since the 80s.

I like the interface. Things across most applications work as you would expect.

Dunno what else. I'm not really a zealot.

If you buy a Mac, you should know that at least 35 percent of the cost is for the very productive and always trustworthy iCool-Factorâ„¢ that comes from having a machine that people associates to other people who are actually creative.

No, I'd say, if you ain't using it for images, films or music - don't bother. You get a much more powerfull pc for the same money. And if you do use it for those sort of thing, well, you still get a more powerfull machine with a pc these days. PLus Adobe, Sony Vegas 10 ect. works well with a pc.

Admitted: I hate Mac. Or more precisely, I hate those people around me that use Mac as a sort of "Hey, look I'm like so like totally like creative like a total artist even though I'm a talentless hack like". So I'm not to be trusted with an opinion on Mac.

The gynaecologist I went to the other day had a little MacBook - that was weird after decades of going to the docs where they couldn't even afford proper envelopes to put the referral letters in!

There are two reasons to buy a Mac:

1. You don't ever have to worry about viruses; and

2. If you buy one, you'll be like me.

But isn't that just because no one has decided to unleash one? (I'm sure people have tried to unleash minor ones that didn't "take," but even so, isn't it just a matter of time before someone really does one?)

If I wanted to let a virus loose, why would I target macs when most people have PCs and I could do more damage with a PC virus?

To be honest, Windows is just designed in a manner that makes getting a malware infection likelier. It's not just about the market share. I've personally always found macs overpriced and underpowered, but I have to say that the way Microsoft has handled the malware issue is just abysmal and inexcusable. Malware protection is big business as well. Many companies benefit from the situation quite considerably.

I'm on Linux myself, because I'm a nerd.

as much as I love macs...that is painfully true. Even with a student discount, u're still getting date-raped. I'm definately curious about linux, but don't have dough to build a computer right now...so I'll pound away at my emac.
