$890 for how big? See, that's the thing, Fresno is good for rent prices! Plus it's not a terrible place to live, it's just not unique or interesting. But Bakersfield is definitely no improvement!

I want a apartment, not a house. Do you have any suggestions?

yes but how big? I have a place that is less than $800 in Oakland, but it's tiny!

You're lucky to rent a room in someone's home in SF/Berkeley/Oakland for $890 per month...

Come on now, it's not that expensive. I've seen a two bedroom apartment in San Diego for $995.

All I want is one a bedroom. I saw a apartmen in San Diego for $995 a month, and it's a two bedroom. I'm planning on having roommates.

okay fine... let's examine what it is that you're looking for...

cheap rent? Fresno's perfect as is Bakersfield and just about any paved-in-rest-stop-dorf along 99 or I-5

so now... do you enjoy live music that isn't country OR western? Move anywhere but the Cali-valley...

fine dining? Bay Area hands down with LA a close 2nd but Fresno? If you think Panda Express is high cuisine, well, there ya go...

hell I'll even break it down to drugs... you want the good shit?? Bay Area hands down whereas Fresno is ACTUALLY world famous for its meth, tweakers and mexican rat weed...

but hey if it's cheap rent you're after Fresno is your city! biggrin

i would stay away from fresno, i live between modesto & sonora and it's very nice, a family city, and very quiet, i love it just as much as where i used to live near san jose.

the bay area is great, i loved living there, but you will need some money to live there, it's NOT cheap to live in a safe area. that's why i moved away from there, it's too much money! at first i was worried to move any where near modesto, because all i heard about it the high crime rate, and gang activity. however, i moved outside of modesto to a city with approx. 25,000 people, great location, near 5 lakes, 50 miles from yosemite, still close enough to get to the bay area in 2 hours. and i'm buying a 3-bedroom house for $500 less a month than i was renting a 2 bedroom apt. in the south bay area.

now i am a pretty boring person, i don't drink, do drugs, smoke, etc...i am a mom with a family, so my city is calm, quiet, and full of famlies, so if you're looking to just party, than here might not be what you're looking for. but you can rent an apt. for $700 in a pretty nice place. smile

spit On a certain level that is no joke. It cost to really "live" in Diego. Once it was "America's Finest City" it traded that honor long ago to step up it's game, so to speak, and one must pay to play. But as a native you could survive til you get a better footing.

I used to live on that same side. One block up from the lake on Brooklyn. Those tall apartments on the corner.

Good times. Used to run the lake (inside) every day.
