you're very right, the smaller cities are very different! i just moved away from the south bay area to another city within california, and i love it so far though. but people do change based on location in this state.

I just wrote a whole bunch of really interesting stuff about the Bay Area and Northern California, but it all sucks, so I'm not going to post it.

However, Oakland is not a small city. Its actually the 47th most populated city in the United States. San Jose is 10th, and San Francisco is actually 13th. Beyond that its pretty fascinating how many of the top 200 are in SoCal compared to NorCal. I would have thought we'd have a few more up here.

Me too, actually. Right up there where they still have huge wild evergreen forests, but there's also lot of snow and ice very near by. I might actually do it (probably in Alaska, though) if I didn't think I'd miss the Bay Area too damn much.

people told me my city reminded me of SF (although I have no idea WHY unless they mean the mild weather) and I dressed accordingly. I'm used to 4 seasons in one day here so I'm always prepared.

Even more scary, this last year we have seen major earthquakes in Japan, New Zealand and Chili. All corners of the Pacific, except for North America...
