OFFICIAL Thor movie thread

Who's hyped for this? Thor's my favorite superhero of all time. I project that it may be one of the best comic book movies ever and should do some huge numbers at the box office. Maybe 750 Million once its all said and done

I'm excited! I wish I had someone to see it with though...I probably won't see it in the theater....But I should..even if I have to see it alone..

What is your main problem?
To whom it may concern: I love you!
Humankind..be both.

Something tells me it's gonna be a flop! Thor really isn't one of those talked-about, universally loved heroes, but I think it'll do all right. Just not the blockbuster numbers you're probably thinking!! We shall see, though.

I hope it's at least pretty decent. There's nothing worse than an expensive snooze-fest!!

I have higher hopes for Captain America than Thor. It should have been done Lord of the Rings style, but I guess it would take too long to make.

The movie has already premiered in Australia. Early reviews are pretty good on Rotten Tomatoes:

Well it's still early (the 94% approval may sound positive...but bear in mind that only 17 votes have been cast so far!), so time will tell.

Well, this is unexpected. We will see how the reviews pan out when it is open to all reviewers. I was expecting a 50-60% on rottentomatoes. I will see the movie no matter the rating.

I doubt the rating will stay that high once it opens in the states, but I'll be very surprised if it dips under 50%. The advance positive buzz can't be that far off.

Neither was Iron Man, and look how that went.

I'm hoping it does well.

Howard Stern reviewed it today and he loved it.

He has awful taste in movies, though.

Thor, eh. shrug The real victory here is that Hemsworth's buzz probably contributed to the recent distribution deal between Lionsgate and MGM for Cabin in the Woods. dancing jig

Never thought I'd see the day when Howard would like a Kenneth Branagh directed film. lol

And I'm sure he didn't either. lol

They also spent a good minute on the air trying to think of Anthony Hopkins' name. "You know, Hannibal Lecter! That guy! What's his name?"

But I feel pretty good about it after Howard's review, just because we seem to have similar taste in comics. He did say Natalie Portman was a weak spot in the movie. biggrin

I'm really looking forward to seeing this, this weekend!

I've not been into Thor, the comic, but I love the lore.

Just saw this. It was better than I thought it was going to be, though the ending left me a little underwhelmed. Overall, it was amusing, and of course, a love story. I would've had a little more action, but it was still fine in that department.

A lot of CGI and obvious line work, but hey, what isn't these days? confused The Frost Giants were pretty cool, though. A LOOT of CGI but again, what would you expect. After the after-the-credits scene, I'm trying to figure out where they're going with this. At least at the end of the other Marvel movies, there was a clear "hint" of what it was referring to. But then again, I could just be out of the loop and not completely up on my Marvel Comics storylines or characters.

I'm curious to see what you guys think when you see it!

It looks so stupid though that I haven't bothered to go see it.

he looks like something that should be displayed on a Pride Float down San Fran.

Lol! Now, now. I will say that Chris Hemsworth made a terrific Thor. Plus, they didn't have him act like an idiot buffoon as a fish out of water when he was first on Earth.

Saw Thor last Saturday and I thought it was great. It was a fun movie with a couple good laughs and great action scenes. If you watch the movie, be sure to stay through the credits for the bonus scene.

Saw it at the weekend. A bit of fun, but a terrible story. It just doesn't hold up. And we are supposed to believe they will make the Avengers without us laughing out loud? Can't see it.

I saw it too...it has that fun watch again factor like Iron Man, Transformers etc.

Heard the most half-arsed review on the radio by professional film reviewers and they obviously hadn't done any research or know their stuff; they said it was weird that it referenced other movies such as Superman (???) and Iron Man and it seemed to be setting itself up for a sequel.

I though the cameo of one uncredited character during the film was a little shoehorned in though
