What are your vacation (holiday) plans?

So as some of you know I was planning a quick "getaway" for this week...it didn't happen.

Actually I am driving down to Florida at the end of the month...but I'm attending my cousin's daughter's first birthday party....with my parents in tow.

confused

Not too bad, it's been years since I've done anything with the old folks, so it'll be nice to spend some quality time with them (while they're still healthy enough to travel...they're not getting any younger).

That leaves me with 2 weeks of time off.

1 weeks is reserved for Bonnaroo (if it actually happens).

The other week is up in the air. I'm thinking of a quick cruise or something like that if I do it solo...if I take my kids somewhere, then maybe I'll drive down to Virginia Beach.

So tell me people...what awesome plans have you made for this summer? Where are you going? What are you doing? Who are you seeing?

question

I already spent all my vacation money this year going to Australia last month so this summer I'll be spending a weekend in San Francisco and my remaining holiday time will be a staycation around Labor Day.

It looks like we may have to do some pricey travel in Autumn, so we're gonna be thrifty through the Summer. I'd like to drive up to Montreal and Quebec City to hang out a few days. We can do that pretty cheaply. And if we can find an inexpensive way to extend that road trip, I'd love to see some of Canada's Atlantic coast.

Well, I hope to go to Hawaii in mid May. Eating healthy and exercising more just to get buff for Waikiki beach cool

That's if I don't need to take an extra course in summer school. neutral

I know exactly what you're saying!

In an ideal world (or if I had SCNDLS-type bank!) then THIS is where I'd spend my summer vacation;

sigh (Hopefully I'll visit Tahiti one day before I die!)

Now, if I can get my act together and plan it right, then I want to hit PR or some other resort in warm waters of the carribean;

But if things get f'ed up the way they tend to for me, considering what's going on in my life right now...then yeah, I'll be driving 15mins to the crowded sand and dirty water of Jones Beach and call it a day.

I'm going away this Sunday and Monday with some friends to a hotel/golf club so the boys can hit some balls and the girls can get some pampering. The kids are having a little holiday at their grandparents house - which they're incredibly excited about!

I'm going to Turkey in a few weeks. excited

And i'm having a long weekend in London in July.

That's all for now.

Next year (if our finances will allow) we're hoping to travel to LA, Vegas, the Grand Canyon and San Francisco.

Yeah, I think that some of those cabanas have glass sections on the floor so that you can see the fish swim by.

Earlier this year I went to the French West Indies.

I'm going to central Italy this summer for a friend's wedding.

I'd like to visit Chicago for a few days in August, but I'm not sure if it will happen.

I'm getting all kinds of excited about upcoming travel plans.

Looks like I've got New Orleans, Turkey, and Greece for sure. A trip to England is being considered as well.

And then several jaunts to other places around the USA that are exciting because of the friends who await (the locales themselves might not be that exciting, but the time spent with friends most definitely is).

I know people think of summer as the time for vacation, but summer is a lovely time to be in Minnesota. There’s no need to leave! I might plan some time off to enjoy the lovely place I live in, but I generally plan my trips out of state around when it will be nicer somewhere else.

I just got back from the Florida Keys and it was a great trip!

I’m planning to visit a friend in Seattle in August for a long weekend (I think) and then the bf and I are probably going to Peru in the fall.

Yay!

That's a good point. Summer is my vacation season now largely because my daughter has school throughout the other seasons. But before she was born, my wife and I did significantly more travel when home wasn't sunny and warm. Just made sense... and we found travel expenses were a lot cheaper in those weird off-seasons.
