My brother was 8-years old, when this girl taunted/teased/bullied him, about his skin color, day in day out. She called him n****r, blacky, darky, you name it. He got tired of it, got up from his seat to tell his teacher, and she stabbed him right through his nose with a sharp object, and damaged his adenoids. I don't hate the girl to this day, I was more angry at her parents for not teaching her some respect/education about people from race/cultures different from hers.

My thing is , watch what you teach your kids, and don't be the example you don't want your kids to be. Now often it doesn't matter if you come from the best household, economic situation, anyone is capable of committing acts of crimes. It is also, still unfortunate, that often times "Jim Crow" education still shows its ugly head, and many persons of color, find themselves having to teach their kids, that many in this society are still not ready to accept them as first class citizens, and many will not respect their race/culture, so yes, there is some "extra education" we have to alert them with, i.e. how to deal with cops that don't respect them as citizens, especially where they are not committing any crime at time they are being stopped, etc., Not saying they have a right to commit any crime, as no one does no matter what race they are from, but unfortunately, yes, there are some "extra" things we find ourselves having to alert/or making our kids aware of, like many of our parents/grandparents who lived through the Jim Crow/segregation eras. This society unfortunately, still has a long way to go with "race relations/education."

And totally agree about the "extra" education. It is beyond unfortunate that such things have to be in the year 2011.

I don't know if we'll ever see true equality (all the way around, where these sort of discussions, from any angle, no longer have to take place) in our lifetime, but I do hope some day. Think of how much we could achieve if we didn't have to get caught up in our differences.

Someone in THAT McDonald's location were using the No Snitching Policy for all of the wrong reason.

No one wanted law enforcers involved, yet they made time to record the incident to having it upload to the entire YouTube universe.

You do NOT hit anyone because someone decided to look a bit too long at your boyfriend.

The transgender victim said this what promted the attack... and those that sat by and watched only served to actually ADD to the problem.

No one is saying those two girls did the right thing.... far from it!

I also think the guy who recorded this was actually the boyfriend in question... he may be called as a witness for the prosecution under some sort of deal.

Its speculation, but it would make sense why he was telling them to leave before the police showed up.

Brown's companion, a 14-year-old girl, was charged with second-degree assault in last week's incident.

Court records show that Brown was involved in a previous confrontation with a woman on July 27, 2010, at the same McDonald's on Kenwood Avenue. The victim in that case, Danielle K. Dower, ultimately asked prosecutors to drop assault charges against Brown.
