Going Greek

I'm going to Greece, and I'm very excited! I'm going with friends in August, and I think it's going to be amazing.

Has anyone ever booked a ferry from Mykonos to Santorini? I'm trying to arrange one and I'm having difficulty.

Also! Any suggestions on how best to enjoy Greece? My friends and I are doing Athens>>Mykonos>>Santorini. Any suggestions welcome!

My partner has been wanting to take me to Greece since we coupled up 7 years ago and we still haven't managed to get there yet.

Here's a link to some info I found and it has a link on the page to the online ferry booking engine.

Lucky you

Thanks, I'll check with him. All the links I find online say no tickets are available in August, which I'm sure is not right. Perhaps I just have to wait until the new season opens in April before I can order tickets, though.

Efan - unless you're staying with friends - if U are staying at a hotel, the Concierge can arrange your tickets and time for you - at no extra cost. That's what concierges do. Make them your BFF.

Yep... I've been to Santorini.... It is awesome!

I don't know how long you plan to stay there but Fira and Oia are a must to visit

Have your camera at the ready at all times ... the views are to die for

You can visit the volcanoe off shore in the centre of the island (yes... I know that sounds like a contradiction lol )

There are the archeological sites to visit..(though I didn't make it to them pout

I stopped on the far side in Kamari ... the beach is one of black basalt stones with Tavernas and hotels lining the beach

You are bound to enjoy it there nod

But beware of the traffic... the road signs are there for decoration lol

smile

guitar I have a firm grip on reality...Maybe just not this reality biggrin troll guitar

Actually, it is entirely possible that there are no tickets in August. That's the heaviest tourism month in Europe AND the month most Europeans go on vacation, themselves.

Lots of places close entirely that month - including Berthillon, my favorite ice cream place in the world (which is in Paris).

It'll definitely be hot. I'm hoping the hot Greek men will be wearing as little as possible as a result. biggrin

Thanks for this! I was looking at a map yesterday and planning to make a trip to the volcano--it seems like a must. The group wants to stay on the side facing the volcano, but I plan to explore all of it as much as possible. Did you make it over to Manolas? Not sure if that's worth making time for or not. Thanks for the tips!
