I think she got kudos all around for being pretty much the only thing worth seeing in SATC 2, everybody was just mortified by her choice of red carpet attire

That's the thing. We enjoyed it beyond Liza. Corny? Yes. Contrived? Yes.
I can't explain it. Maybe you have to watch it in Vegas with a crowd of females who left their husbands at the casino to really appreciate it.

I did feel bad for the two married dudes that got dragged in there tho. I hope they got anal that night.
