Hanging with my Princey peeps this weekend, throwing a party next weekend, going to an all day outdoor musical festival the weekend after that.

In August I’m going to Indianapolis for a good friend’s 40th bday party.

And the rest of the summer will be spent around town. There’s always SOMEthing going on in Mpls in the summer, usually outdoors and usually with some kind of music and yummy food and drinks. I plan to play as much as I can and (hopefully) spend a good amount of time with the guy I’m dating. mushy

I’ve got my 4 week trip to Thailand in November, so I’m saving all my time off and budgeting for that.

1)So far I just saw the musical "Fela" on broadway this weekend, and I was amazed by it.

2) Hopefully will be going on a possible family trip to Aruba this year, and that's a big "hopefull" because of family schedules.

3) I'm sure they'll be another family reunion

4)TBD.....

SCNDLS, are you planing a move back to Panama, or are you just considering a second home there?

My summer...

* France and Austria next week

* Minneapolis (possibly) in late June

* Portland, Ore., in July

* I hope to get to Montreal sometime this summer as well

Aside from the travel, my two major objectives will be job hunting and aggressively brushing up on my French.

Lawd have mercy, mercy mercy....those dancers can dance their asses off times 100. The actor was excellent. He basically played "Fela" to the "T". My two sisters (I treated them to the musical) absolutely loved it. I saw it last night, so I'm a bit tired today at work, but it's a good "tired".

They basically told the story of his life pretty well, and the music...good lawd, the horns in that band was off the chain. I didn't get to read the playbill, but will today when I get home.

Actress Loretta Devine was in the audience, sitting two rows in front of me and at the end of the show, she was signing autographs, but there were too many folks waiting, so I didn't wait for one.

I would go back and see it again. Love the music. I bought 2 Fela key chains for my sisters, and the cd soundtrack and a magnet for myself. I always loved Afrobeat music, and when they played "Expensive Sh*t", it was on. That song is one of my favorites of Fela's, but I never knew the meaning behind the song, but once the actor told the story of the song, now I know the story behind it. LOL. I

They were also selling the DVD documentary about Fela's life. A movie is also being made about Fela, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, will be playing Fela. He will make a handsome Fela, and he is a great actor.

I had a great time. I plan on seeing more broadway stuff this year. The weather in NYC for memorial weekend was fantastic, hot and sunny, but beautiful, just like today's weather, and of course Times Square was jammed to the "T". I like the way they have the chairs and tables and other seating in the square now.

I'm going back to see it again. It's incredible. I saw it first on a Saturday matinee, so I saw the "second" Fela (my understanding is that the lead role is split between the two actors, so he's not really an understudy). I'm going back in a couple weeks to see the other guy, who's supposed to be even more amazing in the role.

OMG, if that guy I saw yesterday is the original actor, well, he is fantastic. It was packed last night and the audience really enjoyed it. I like the way the story was told as Fela, endured a lot because of his political beliefs. My niece is going to see it in 2 weeks as well. I've been wanting to see this musical since I heard it first announced. The dancers are "awesome". His son Femi Kuti is also a musician and continues his father's legacy of Afrobeat. Wasn't the band that played the musi in the musical awesome? I love the horn section.

Oops, forgot to mention that I want to see the "King Tut" exhibition at Discovery in Times Square

also

"Walking with Dinosaurs" exhibition at Madison Square Gardens.

They'll have it made up with the dinosaurs in animitronics(?), llike they're life-like , with trees/forests all set up, almost making it look like they're bringing that time of the dinosaurs to life.

I have some of Femi Kuti's music and love it. And the music of this show is so powerful and so moving. I was just transfixed by it. By the whole thing, really. It's one of the most powerful shows I've seen on Broadway. I could be wrong about the way the actors have things set up, but I believe I read that they switch off playing the lead because the role is so physically demanding. I'll let you know when I see it if it made a big difference seeing the other actor.

-Renting a beach house on the North Sea for a few weeks... read a lot, write a lot, do a lot of nature and landscape photography and get my grill skills on!!!! I'm dying for some decent grilled fish like you can't believe...with endless grilled veggies and Prosecco on the side..

- In July a friend asked me to sub her weekly English speaking expatriate pre-school for her while she vacations in Andalucia...I thought it would be fun until I went to observe a class yesterday, and she was hunting one of the kids who skillfully hid his ass in a trash can rolling across the play park whofarted

- Getting my damned stomach flat enough to rock my swimsuits before we leave for vacation whofarted

- After giving up my fabulous city apartment in Hamburg central, looking for the perfect starter digs for the life and new dude. Little freaked out because I'm too close to sky high trees and formal gardens right now and I miss my f****n' hamburg street vibe and funky neighborhood...thankfully,I still spot Converse wearers on the street, so that is a calming influence that makes me feel not too-too out of my element..but...kinda pissed that I can't just walk to a vernissage whenever the mood strikes eek

- I just got done leading a study on the Megillah (aka book of Esther), now I'm switching into student mode and starting a ten week long formal study of the book of Isaiah. Clearly, I'm going to miss a few weeks since summer is the major travel time over here... but I do plan on completing all studies and assignments when I'm away, though cool

You should check out David Mamet's play Race. The acting was really good especially David Allen Grier. Did he get a Tony nom?

I also loved Memphis and it looks like it's running neck and neck with Fela in the same categories. That was a great musical too. clapping

Oh and David WAS nominated! woot! He killed that role.

As was Bill T Jones for Fela.
