It's been long hypothesized that early humans and the hominide "Neanderthal", which existed 400,000 to 30,000 years ago had possibly interbred from time to time. This would certainly explain my hairiness. Christopher damn!

oh lawd I've always believed that evolution in humans has stopped since the invention of modern society. This is because we no longer need to be the fastest, strongest, smartest anything--our environment gives us a stable, unchanging modernly convenient place to survive and even the ugliest, most stupid among us can breed. However, I saw on some documentary that when the genome is inspected it appears that the rate of evolutionary change in human beings is accelerating--this will cause an Asian in America to be dramatically different than one in Mainland China within only a few dozen generations. Fascinating. I know it's due to intermarrying, but after only a few generations white North Americans already look different than white Europeans. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

This thread reminds me of an email that was recently circulated....
"If we came from monkeys....why are there still monkeys?" That's a headscratcher. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

"If we came from monkeys....why are there still monkeys?" That's a headscratcher. We didn't come in a straight line from monkeys. We share common ancestors with monkeys. There's a difference. Some of the offspring of those ancestors evolved into apes, and some of them evolved into human beings. You should always be suspicious of someone who tries to prove a point by making an observation that MUST mean "theory X" instead of presenting facts that actually support "theory X." It worries me how few of us apply critical thinking.

There's an endless supply of buffoons & charlatans who rely on the inability of a large part of our population to spot simple logical fallacies. Wizard's First Rule:
"People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool."
