Facebook Is Depressing

I just reactivated my account tonight, to search for someone whom told me to look them up - and I'd forgotten how depressing it is.

It's like staring at an ant farm.

All these people, posting... shit. Every wedding photo looks like every other wedding photo; every holiday photo looks like every other holiday photo; every "wild" and "crazy" party looks like every other shit party I've ever been to.

Everybody's just waiting for something to happen; the next meme to exploit until it's no longer funny (which usually only takes a day or two).

Baby pictures... All babies look the fucking same... Unless it's got two heads, I'm not bloody interested.

I hate Facebook!!! mad

I like facebook more than I use to since I found a few friends from back in the day.

I agree with you. More and more, I use Facebook as a simple address book with lots of (easily ignorable) bells and whistles.

Twitter is far more my sort of thing.

If I want to post shit, I'd rather just do that on the Org!

Exactly! They're no longer close friends for a reason. It's just bemusing to me, why you'd want to speak with someone you barely remember from ten years ago.

It's just so distastefully and wilfully ego-driven. "ME! ME! ME! ME! ME!" I hate it. I hate that I ever uploaded photos to it. I hate that I've reactivated the account just so I can be "friends" with someone I speak to nearly every day anyway! What the fuck am I doing???

Even worse is when you find people you haven't spoken to in years and add them as a friend only to NOT speak to them some more. I always say Facebook is a watse of time yet I'm there everyday. Someone shoot me please.

I like it. It makes it a lot easier to find out about auditions - and keep track of the shows my theatre friends are in.

Its not old high school friends faults we grew up and moved away... Its fun to remember things and see what the person has been up to all these years...

falloff

That's what I did. Added everyone I could remember from school, even if I didn't know them back then. I ended up removing them as friends, save for about 4 or 5.

Hey, it's great if you've got family or close friends living far away from you. I'm a six hour drive from my best friend and my goddaughter, and I love that she can put up new pics of her whenever she likes.

Facebook can be useful if you want to know what happened to "that guy/chick who was in my class during high school", and similar bullshit...

other than that, I can't see what's so great about it... neutral dead

that's completely and utterly true

My husband rang me up yesterday and there was about about 2 minutes of silence at one point of the conversation, I was like "should I hang up now?" he said we don't always have to be talking, but why ring me up not to talk?!? nuts

You should twitter LOL. Why some people feel the need to tell everyone about completely mundane shit is beyond me?
