A couple of thoughts from someone who has children your age...since you asked, You seem to have a sensitive spirit and a aptitude for creative expression. You've probably heard this before but you are young and full of potential. As you live and learn you will find your way, don't worry. Keep your focus, be open to wise counsel and rise above your challenges and you'll surprise youself in a few years...it's true! In the meantime, there's absolutely nothing wrong with honest, productive work however humble it may be. Keeping a positive attitude attracts good vibes...even at the Home Depot! You're a beautiful young man inside and out...visualize who you wish to become and stick with it. you are so right Shyra, she hit the nail on the head. I constantly recomend the movie "pursuit of happiness" that guy never lost sight of his goal and he never believed he was a looser, even when sleeping in the mens room with his son. That movie is worth watching over and over again. Very well said, babynoz. If I were more eloquent, I would have said the same. Nyse, I know you might have heard it before, and I need to heed my own advice, but, bro, we need to give up the . I'm just like you with regards to those smokes, but dayum, you look good puffin! I normally do not like men having long hair as few guys can pull it off, but I think I am going to like your 'do' in that profile pic. When I saw it first I thought it was part of a Van Dyck painting. I love that era in time, esp Dutch art. Btw, the pic I posted is by Albrecht Dürer and I think that the painting is intriguing; he painted himself honestly, while in that time most painters made themselves or the people that sat for them more beautiful. 1st of all. you are not old. you have a youthful look and spirit. However, I hate my smile. So i try not to smile at all. sometimes it peaks through. and if you see it. consider it a accident. verinikka Said: all that hair!!!

NYSE, I THOUGHT THE ARMY THING WAS A JOKE SO I DID NOT COMMENT. This is not going to help your Future at all.
First, it is even MORE difficult for someone coming out of the service to get a job in the states then a regular person. You live in a state with one of the highest unemployment rates and you have a job, that IS GREAT . SECOND unfortunately I can not post videos, but check out Katt Williams on youtube and his video on insurgents and you get both my view on these wars and also, whether you like it or not something you are not going to be able to ignore. Third, MENTAL ILLNESS. If you manage to come out without a physical handicap great, but there is also post tramatic stress disorder and some people come back not there former fun loving selves. Do you really want an increase in nightmares aswell as an inability to form close relationships etc. You know I have mental illness. Once you have it, that's it. You have to keep on top of it the same way as someone with a bad back. You always need to be aware of your limits, and that is often means limits of what kind of job you can do. Being an officer is basically putting your body and mind on a platter and offering it up to the Government in the name of Patriotism. Fourth, take note that kids whose parents have money don't go into the service. If it was such a great opportunity their kids would be going to. I you not to do this, I that you come to your senses, and I will forever if you actually ,stupidly . Let me start by saying I am not really trying to sway anyone's opinion one way or the other as far as enlisting with what I am about to say, merely to give perhaps a slightly more informed view of the military.
I'm not sure what MOS you are looking into, Nyse, but if you have decided that you do want to do this, my suggestion is to not settle for whatever gets you into the military, in fact, if you can't get into the Army for the career field you like, I would suggest looking at a service that can get you into the field you like. That said, consider where you want to be after the military and view it as a stepping stone to getting there. If they want you to do something like Morse code or fix tanks, consider the job opportunities those would allow for (not many for those two in particular) outside of the military. Many people use the military to get training/education for what it is they really want to do while others simply join just to have a job. Try to be the former. I'm getting out in 16 days. I'm extremely pleased with the offers I have gotten. I would not have gotten these if I had not joined. Also, take full advantage of the tuition assistance while you are in should you join. It's my one regret in my 10 years in the Air Force. I did not make the most of that. Speaking of education, make sure you opt for the GI Bill. It costs a little extra when you first join and aren't making that much at first, but it is completely worth it, especially with the changes put out with the Post 9/11 GI Bill. I won't go into detail since a simple google search will give you all you need to know. Also consider how you feel about deploying. Some branches deploy more than others and some career fields in those branches deploy even more. For example if you decide to join Security Forces or just about anything in medical (or an MP in Army terms) you can count on deploying more. Then there are positions where you may never deploy at all. I haven't deployed...been in since 2000. And not every deployed position is right there on the front lines. Not to say it's a trip to Disney World, you work longer hours, but you don't exactly have bullets whizzing by 24/7 either. So again, think about this when picking a specialty. As far as not being a fit for the military personality-wise, it's by no means meant for everyone, so only you would know how well you would adapt to the military. I think some people have this idea that you have to be a robot and do what you are told or "programmed" to do...not at all the case. Oh...and you can take smoke breaks. Again, this is not meant to sell you on the idea, just to make sure you're more clear on what it is you're looking at and you don't approach it short-sightedly. If you do it, just think of where you want to be afterward and use it to get there. | |
