Oh my god. I can't list the films that make me cry. There are too many.
Basically I can cry at anything. People know i'm a crybaby. Someone taught me that if you feel like you're going to cry, look diagonally up to the right as far as you can and it will stop the tears. It works! Now I do it all the time. Now people thing i'm a hard bitch

Fenwick said: t I'm REALLY curious about what makes you cry in Amadeus.
It's the music. It's like a character on it's own. But the end, where he is put in a beggar's grave. With the entire requiem sequence leading up to that. And I cry from laughter because of SO many scenes in that movie. The best, most beautiful moment is probably where Salieri explains about the majesty of Mozart's music, starting at 1:54 in this clip. Beautiful. Always was one of my favourite movements, ever, but seeing the movie pick THAT movement, it still breaks me. >>

ernestsewell said: It's a romantic idea to cry at a movie evoking enough emotion that you weep during the movie at some point, but how realistic is it?
I ask because I DVR'd The Reader and watched it last night. I wasn't sure what it was about, or what to expect. For some reason, it got me emotional. It was such a great movie. For anyone who hasn't seen it, I'd highly recommend it. Do you cry at a movie? What movie(s) have evoked that kind of emotion from you? Only two movies make me cry: Glory: when Denzel's character gets whipped and that single tear runs down his face. And this old black and white film called Imitation of Life: when a black woman's daughter, who is passing for white, turns up at her mothers funeral - there is Mahalia Jackson singing in the background and it gets me every time. I get ugly, crying over these movies: Dark Victory Imitation Of Life The English Patient Just the opening titles of Imitation Of Life gets me choked, because I know what's coming. And I couldn't watch the last 30 minutes of Marley & Me - I had to leave the room. If this is the one I'm thinking of then Me too, not the opening scene but later...and I hate that it gets me every time I see it. I sit there and tell myself I am not gonna and the next thing I know my chins wet. Edited, cause I noticed about 6 people mention Imitation of Life - I am glad it is not just me, cause I always feel so silly over crying when I know what's coming, but with so many other people listing this film it just proves that is a sad ass film so I shouldn't be ashamed anymore. The most recent film that turned me into a puddle was I've Loved You So Long. I also pretty much lost it on The Lives of Others. a movie I was equally upset over, for similar but even worse circumstances to that movie Vinterkyss http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0415023/ Engelchen http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116208/ A.I. Astroboy El Orfanato I mainly cry at child abandonment/rejection, losing a child, and parents being responsible for harm coming to their own child it's my raw nerve

The ending of "The Color Purple".
The ending of "Immitation Of Life". The whipping scene with Levar Burton in "Roots". The ending of the episode of "All In The Family" when Mike and Gloria are leaving and moving to California. Also, another episode of "All In The Family" when Divine is killed by gay bashers and Edith opens a Christmas gift after she's dead and reads the card and discovers it was from her. Hell, several episodes of "Touched By An Angel" especially the one with the man on death row. Andy is a four letter word.

I've been meaning to see that one - the book was good. The book was definitely better than the film, but that's usually the case, nonetheless, it was the first time I experienced an entire audience being completely silent and remaining in their seats after the movie had finished.

I cry watching movies all the time, and sometimes I really let go and cannot stop.
Most recently I've cried at The Time Traveller's Wife, The Road, Seven Pounds, The Pursuit of Happyness, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Marley and Me (could not even watch the last half hour when I saw it a second time, having lost my dog in the time inbetween viewings), Eight Below, World Trade Centre, 50 First Dates, Crash, Vanilla Sky, The Green Mile, AI, Bicentennial Man, Goodbye Mr Chips. Common themes seem to be are childhood lost, love lost or impossible love, friendship lost, uncontrollable passing of time/circumstance while main character stays same, dogs!. Oh Man! sometimes my wife, friends, family etc think I am a right sap but I just say let it all out. It does get a bit embarrassing in the cinema sometimes (espeically if it happens at the end) and I have to leave all red-eyed. At home watching a DVD I just go for it and sob uncontrollably. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.
