I think he should've stayed in his seat. Once, the guy moved back to the front of the bus, I didn't hear anything that was truly provoking enough for the guy with the braids to go up there and confront him. And then he hit him first. I don't care who instigated the verbal altercation, both men were (or should have been) adult enough to defuse it.
At some point, one would have been wise to completely ignore the other, but at least the older guy had the maturity to attempt a physical separation. I'm pretty dove-ish, but I can't blame him for defending himself. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
