I was afraid of that scene (Mufasa's death) when I was small! I'd always skip that part! boxed
I think I have never really watched the whole story... I would absolutely love to do that now that I'm braver biggrin

The imagery in those scenes was amazing...also, the lustful desire of old dude for Esmerelda was too graphically displayed here, and for any Christian to here the lyrics "its not my fault its in God's plan, He made the Devil so much stronger than a man" really pushed the envelope.

This is the only Disney movie that actually gave me goosebumps (the opening song) in the theater and made me cry at the end. Heck it made my brother in law cry too. lol

The Lion King is far too deep to be dismissed as just another Disney movie. It remains one of my favorites to this day. I was only 3 when it came out, so it didn't mean much to me then, but when I watched it again around 10-11 it was a real tear-jerker. I've referenced The Lion King in a few essays, some of which my more elderly instructors didn't take to kind too (because they didn't know the story!), but others that have seen the movie really appreciated it.

The broadway version of the movie manages to convey the emotion of the stampede scene very well. I did not expect that whirlwind of emotions in watching the play. I'd love to see live it again.

Pocahontas is another one that can get pretty emotional. The Savages scene in particular.
Kinda strange, kinda awesome.
