I read that if Avatar did well at the box office, James Cameron would like to make a sequel. But I really didn't see anything in the movie to explore in a sequel.  Avatar doesn't need a sequel. A definite "nay".
Maybe I'm too old (or cynical?) to be all that impressed by visuals only. The story was not horrible, but havn't we seen that story in a billion other movies, books, comics and so on? And as for the visuals, yes, they were impressive, but I really hated the visual design of the movie. All that glowing, that sort of looked like it was stolen in a Disney park and amplified beyond reason with the mantra "More is more, let's have us some good ol' neon trees". Not to mention the twisted "six legged everything", that anyone with a sense of movement will point at as gimmicky, rather than a natural design in the context of the story and the univers (those "horses" .. they would never be able to move). All of that took me out of the universe. Anywhoo... | |

The trailer looked like a computer game to me. So I really doubt I would be going to see it based on that alone. Although I've never really seen a 3D film in a theatre, so I'm somewhat intrigued about that aspect. | |
