ARE YOU Attached to THE LAND? ?

What I mean by this is: are you attached to certain city, location, or country?

I'm becoming more and more aware that I am absolutely attached to central Florida, specifically the gulf coast of central Florida (Sarasotta, Tampa Bay, Bradenton).

There is NOTHING like throwing your own kayak out on the water, and paddling down crystal clear fresh water rivers and seeing Manatee, turtles and all manner of wildlife. Or paddling down salt water mangroves and spotting fishhawks, blue heron, sharks, dolphins, stingrays, and all manner of wiildlife as well.

This time of year is normally one in which people's movements are more restrictive in this hemisphere. The weather gets colder, people huddle in bars, pubs, coffee shops and the like. And people put on winter clothes.

But in Tampa bay, this is the prime time of year to get out on the water and appreciate the wildlife around you. sigh

Here are some pictures that show my kayak trips:

Is there a place you're attached to?

You can't see them well here, but the little light areas in the water at the top right-hand side of the water area in the photograph are manatees under water.

They're very gentle, if somewhat stupid. It's against the law to approach them, so this was as close as I could get. You're allowed to touch them and pet them if they approach you, but you can't actually pursue them. shrug

My house,,,,,to call me a homebody would be a huge understatement.

But I don't think its because of the homebody factor alone, I'm possessive as well.

I'm attached to the East Coast and I'll probably be here forever. I toyed with moving to LA if things in my life didn't change or get better. I'm currently pretty happy so I think I'm going to go back to school and stay put for a while. LA is like a second home now...so when I vacation there it's still pretty sweet smile

I love love love manatees. They were my favorite part of visiting Florida the first time I went. I could stare at them for hours. I want to go live under the ocean and have manatee friends and we’ll just float about slowly all the livelong day without a care in the world.

Do you two ladies love them because they're such stupid animals and they make you feel superior? I find women love men for this same reason.

I don't know that I could go to far from New York state. I don't care for the heat, so anything south is out of the question. New England would be fine I suppose.

I am not attached to the CA coast, except perhaps for the mild climate.
I do form attachments to all different landscapes.

I miss the East, the buzzing of the insects, the feel of humidity, the summertime thundershowers, warm ocean. It reminds me of vacation and seeing my grandparents.

I miss the mountains, snow, dry air, pine trees, streams. It reminds me of skiing trips.

I miss the ocean, the salty air, the noise, the girls walking around in bikinis. It reminds me of growing up in Malibu.

Someday I'll miss the throbbing of car stereos, sirens, hearing the homeless sort bottles & cans @3am, disgusting smells of the lake. It'll remind me of Oakland smile (actually the Bay area is beautiful, even Oakland.)

Dud, you could totally be a guest performer on an album by the Orb. Fuck Fully White clouds! They need NDRU's warm ocean/dry mountain slice of Americana!

I think I am attached to the England, I was thinking about it a few days ago when a group of us were outside one of the local country pubs and it was a warm sunny day and I realised as much as I love travelling there is something beautiful about England.

I also feel an attachment to the NT and the West coast of Australia its the only place I have travelled to which I actually miss. Its just so open and raw I love the emptyness as well as the people there. Its one of the few places I want to go back to.

Yes. I lived up in a town by the Catskills in New York for a while. I kind of hated it when I was actually living there. I lived there while I was going to school. It was basically my college surrounded by farms and vineyards. I thought it was boring while I was living there, but now I miss it terribly lol Especially around this time of year. It's really gorgeous over there during Autumn. I'm going to make a trip out there very soon yay!

Georgia is so beautiful, I fell in love with the moss on the trees when I came to visit.

I am particular to the sights sounds and smell of the sea. I think I'll always want to live near the open water. cloud9
