The plot was ... very 'been there, done that', and the end was hokey. You weren't given any compelling reason to care about the characters, and the movie ended up being a sequence of 'challenges' like in a video game. It even looks and feels like a video.

I believe the strength of the movie was supposed to be Burton's imaginary 'other world' vision, and except for a few of the World War II style nods, the world wasn't all that impressive to look at in my opinion.

But if you're going to see it, see it at the cinema lol
That's because some of the scenes are so detailed you'd probably loose a lot of that watching a smaller screen.

That's upsetting.....I love Tim Burton films. Did you see Coraline? If so what did you think of it? I loved it. Can't wait for Alice in Wonderland w/ Johnny Depp!!

Last weekend I saw 'Adam'.
It's (kinda love) story of a young man with Asperger's Syndrome.
Excellent movie. Sundance award winner. 9/10 stars
I teared up several times, but I am hormonal and have a kid with Asperger's.

I realize that it was more of a romance, than a science fiction movie, but it seemed as if no effort went in to making the 'time traveling' aspect believable. I'm all for stretching my imagination and what not, but by summing up his ability as 'a genetic disorder' made me feel like I was supposed to all out suspend reality...Then, the mush factor was a tad too high as well for my taste.
And the overall movie really just struck me as a bit anti-climatic. I didn't grow attached to any of the characters, as none of them seemed to have well defined personalities. It felt like the point of the whole thing was just to wait for the main character to die twocents
If you will, so will I

"Julie and Julia" - I give it 3.5 stars out of 5.

***SPOILER ALERT***

I would have given this movie 5 out of 5 stars except:

1. There was not one damn reason why there had to be so much...hell, ANY smoking in the Meryl Streep part of the movie; and

2. Why did they have to make Julia Child a bitch at the very end?!? They spent the whole movie making me like her, and then it turns out she's "a bit of a pill". ARGH!

...you know it was based on a true story, right? That's actually what happened when Julia Child was asked about Julie Powell's project.

What they didn't show, though, is that ho Julie having an affair behind her husband's back with some dude she met online through her blog.

Moon -I give it a 10! The pacing's a bit slow, so it's the sort of movie you have to be in the mood to watch, but I can honestly say it's the best sci-fi I've seen in a long time. Bravo to Duncan Jones (aka little Zowie Bowie all grown up, for those of you who don't know) for directing this beautiful piece. clapping

Overall I liked Julie and Julia, but that Julie chick pissed me off to no end. She was just so whiny and self-absorbed. I don't know if that's what the real woman is like, but I felt it hard to care about what she was doing or why, she was so unlikable. Whenever the movie was going through a "Julie" sequence, I couldn't wait for them to go back to Julia.

The September Issue

boxed My boss wanted to see this, so she bought tickets for the entire office and we had to see it on opening day. I couldn't care less about Anna Wintour, Vogue or haute couture, but the movie was okay. To me, the more interesting part of the film was Grace Coddington's story. (She is Vogue's Creative Director.) If you're really into fashion, I suppose you might like it.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I've heard the books are great.

The movie looked awesome, but it was pretty disappointing almost everywhere else.

Duplicity -- 4 out of 5 stars.
