Supa, it is so sad that your Grandmother has passed, but it is a blessing that you and her shared inner peace. rose What a wonderful Grandmother you had. bawl

Now for my freaky part...my Tia Concha yes that is her real name, well actually Conception is her true name. Has a rosary just like the one in the picture, it was given to her by my niece Angie. Angie brought it back from Rome during her last visit. My Tia Concha (who is 80 and lives with us) has asked us to put the rosary in her hand after she passes. bawl
Bless you Supa. mushy

My grandma told me she got it in either France or Italy but now I'm gonna go with Italy! smile I LOVED my Tia Concha. She was hardcore and staunch but man, that woman loved me fully. She died the night I went into surgery for my apendix and now I have a piece of her and my grandmother at the same time.

Tell your Tia your friend had a Tia Concha too! Something else. When I was telling people at bingo that my grandmother was not going to be coming back 2 sisters that sit at the table behind me asked me what my grandmother's name was and I told them "Vicenta" and they both gasped and said "We had a grandma Vicenta too!"

My cousin who died has 6 or 7 kids in the system. Only one is out of the styem and connected to our family and it is the daughter that she named after my grandmother cry

Thank you beautiful. I'm thinking back on the conversation I had with Jess and her friend imploring them to talk to their grandparents and spend time with them and I am so thankful that I was speaking to them from experience and not regret.

She was awesome. Her sense of humor, good lord lol All my life people never think I'm related to my Mexican family. Here I am this little white boy with Green Eyes, hanging around Poncho Villa lol

One time at Bingo we were sitting there playing the game and I needed the power ball number to win the jackpot and I said "Look grandma, I'm on for the powerball!"
The game ends but I didn't win mad So the lady that was sitting across from us puts her hand on her heart as a gesture of sweetness and she says:

"How sweet, he called you grandma"

Me: Yeah, because she's my grandma. From birth!

My grandma replies I am? eek

falloff

Even in her illness and the suffering of these last 2 weeks she still had a sliver of that humor because I told her that it was OK to let go when she was ready. Later when talking with my dad I told him I told her that and he started laughing and I was like, what's so funny?! eek He said that she told him that everyone's been telling her it was OK to let go and she said I let go and nothing happens! Awwww mushy

She was my Godmother. My uncle Ronnie, her middle son is my Godfather. It's a hard thing to process, feeling relief. Everybody in the family feels that. But to feel relief means that she is no longer living because living equals pain. Towards the end I kept wishing for her suffering to end but realized what that really meant. There was no end to the suffering in life, only death. Intellectually I know there is no malice connected to the desire for her suffering to end but that little flash of guilt still tries to pry it's way into your brain.

Fuck off guilt, you're not welcome. And yes, I will carry the torch she passed nod Thank you for posting on her thread hug

Also, Pops is my nickname from birth. It is short for Papasito (litte daddy) and my dad's side of the family never called me by my birthname, only my nickname. Even at 39 and in the last time I saw her my grandmother called me Pops cry

It is hard to lose a person that means so much to you. My great grandmother passed away in 2002. I still miss her every damn day.
She was the only relative besides my mom that I was close to.
I will remember and honour her as long as I live.
I know you will do the same.

To all the devoted Catholics....

When my grandmother let me have the rosary she said "you can wear it under your shirt" so that is how I'm wearing it. Not on the outside like Amorbella. I'm not as hardcore as her lol wink

There are so many words I would use to describe my Grandmother but Strength, Courage and Wisdom describe the person my grandma was perfectly. She was incredibly strong throughout her life, she was courageous against her illness and she shared her wisdom. And it is strength, courage and wisdom that she inspired me to find within myself. Anniversaries are very important to me and I wanted to mention 2 of them. Yesterday, was my grandmother's 87th birthday and today is 3 months to the day from when I posted this thread about coming out to her:

I'm so sorry hun, hug but she is in a better place now. I know you will wear that rosary proudly and with honor.
You are in my prayers
