Over 1M Illegal 'Wolverine Movie' Downloads

April 9
Link

The rough cut of X-Men Origins: Wolverine that leaked last week has already been downloaded over one million times on BitTorrent.com, according to TorrentFreak, the #1 download on its Top 10 list for the week.

The movie is also among the top torrents on Pirate Bay and other torrent sites.

Fox is battling back, canning a blogger who reviewed the early cut, and sending takedown notices to the torrent sites, but new links go up as soon as the old ones go down.

The massively quick distribution of the pirated copy shows the difficulty in putting the genie back in the bottle once it's out.

A poll on TorrentFreak asked its readers what impact the early viewing of the film would have. Of the over 5000 respondents, only 6% said viewing the film would have a negative effect on theatergoing or DVD purchase, while 41% said it would have a positive effect on those behaviors. Others said it would have no effect.

I hate watching movies on my computer. I want a movie screen or a TV screen; I spend enough time in front of my computer as it is. And this movie definitely calls for going to the theater and getting a bucket of popcorn.

The geek in me, the annoying part of me that contemplates whether the Millennium Falcon could take out the Enterprise (which I totally think it could), is a little annoyed that Cyclops is in this movie when he and Wolverine clearly hadn't met yet in the first X-Men movie, but I'm totally prepared to get over it any day now.

the only time i want to watch a movie on a little screen is if i'm traveling and bored and want to watch something instead of read. even then, i usually have a dvd of some stupid 80s tv series from netflix, something i can easily doze off to...

Exactly!

Plus like sonic said, the version that was leaked is NOT finished, it has no real SFX or anything. Somewhere someone posted some pics> They weren't very spoileriffic, so I'll see if I can find them (assuming they did not get yanked, anyways)

since it's an old screen, a 720dpi copy is plenty good enough mr.green

They were talking about this on Stern and a caller offered to send a copy to Howard. Next thing ya know, Fox is on the phone, begging him not to watch it and trying to bribe him with all sorts of stuff (private screening, Hugh Jackman appearance, etc.). Howard is a big superhero/comic book fan.

I don't watch that many movies, but a big screen means nothing to me. shrug I'd much rather watch things on my laptop, in the xtreme comfort of my bed. cloud9

nod

The first two did a very good job, considering the limits they had to work with. No motion picture will ever be able to 100% accurately recreate the comic experience.

X3 could have been soooo much better. They had the opportunity to really do The Dark Phoenix Saga some justice (again, it could never be totally identical to the original but they still could have done more than they did). But they totally missed the chance.

There some deviations from the comics, but overall the presentation was still very, very good. X3 shit all over that though. sigh

nod I especially like the first one. They did a nice job considering they only had the budget for two fight scenes, really.

nod Even if it is billed as an action superhero flick, a movie doesn't need a lot of action scenes if it's excecuted well.

I know a lot of geekboys and girls complained about it, but I actually liked that they took the time to explain what was going on and introduce the characters for non-fans.

The problem, as far as I can see, with translating the X-Universe onto the big screen is that it in some ways it straddles the line between being a Serious Story like Batman and and being a bit sillier or more fantastic the way non-comic fans still expect superhero stories to be. I imagine that can lead to all sorts of problems in terms of presentation.

Stoked as I am for the Canucklehead flick. I was kinda hoping we'd see a Magneto movie first. Oh well. smile

At first I was excited for this flick, but I am going to keep my expectations low and maybe I will enjoy the film. I don't think Ryan Renolds will be able to pull off Deadpool too well. Also, Will.I.Am is in the movie disbelief

• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Good pick. Somebody other than Halle, anyway. Berry as Storm was terrible casting.

Cute wig in that pic though.

Yep. I read that Russell Crowe was going to play Wolverine, but he wanted too much money. I think he would have done a better job then Hugh Jackman. Hugh Jackman, who isn't bad playing Wolverine, is too much of a pretty boy to play Wolverine I think.

I think Jackman does a fair job. My only beef with him as Wolverine is he's too damn tall. But that's kind of a minor quibble, so shrug
