(Screams) People make me angry!

I thought I'd vent somewhere .. here seemed good .

I was in daytona with some friends. We were in the car and we noticed this car continiously honking at us. Now, keep in mind I'm the only black girl in the car. Anywho, this car kept honking, and we figured it was in the lane next to us,the turning lane.

So the light turns green and as he is turning, he rolls down the window and yells out, "F-IN N*GGER!"at me.


Yeah, I wasn't to happy =/.

You know, I really have to say that the US is un-fucking-believable when it comes to racism. I know that its not perfect in other parts of the world but some of the stories my brother has told me about his travels in the states make my skin crawl - and he travels the world on a regular basis. He says nothing even comes close to the US in terms of all out, in your face racism.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that total bullshit.

Secondly, this has happened to me before. It's shocking that people are still that...basic.

And you'd think that after all these years/decades/centuries we'd have some way of 'getting over it'...
I haven't found one yet.

But it helps to laugh. Laugh because you know how great a person you're capable of being. Laugh because you know you've got your education and you're smart enough to know when you see ignorance and stupidity. Laugh because you're so much more above that. Laugh because they are not, and there's not hope for them to progress.

It's absurd to tell you to laugh off a situation that is hardly laughable.
BUT, having experienced this myself as a more-than-visible minority, I can tell you that a smile gives you strength when you really need it most.

My husband and I are hispanic, and we were shopping for some new furniture in a very upscale store in town. Not a damn sales person would come up to us, we had to flag a person down, and they looked at us like we were crap. People can be so shitty. We walked our asses out of that store, and spent our hard earned money some where else.

The guy's a punk coward... he said it while driving because knew he could say it and get away from the situation.

I am sorry you had to experience that ... I can relate, so glad its getting to be a rarer thing where I live. Every time I was called that word I always respond with a heart warming "FU TOO PUTO!!!" and I kept it moving.

Its best not to dwell on that crap... even though its hurtful.
