Love this film. One of my all time favorites. Definitely one of, if not THE best of all time.
Get the DVD with the 2 commentaries. Roger Ebert does the one he used to do every year at his film festival, dissecting the composition of the film. And Peter Bogdanovich's is also excellent for the inside scoop, as he was friends with both Orson Wells and Herman Mankiewicz later in their lives. fascinating commentaries both, and totally worth sitting through. you will not be bored. | |

Becuz you hindsight it wrong. Back in the day it was the first movie that used certain camera angles and they used a special tricks so everything (back- AND foreground) was sharply in focus. Besides that and the fact the acting is ace, the script's ace and the urban legend involving female's genitalia and WIlliam Randolph Hearst and you got a classic. If you just like Harry Potter movies, this will be hard to grasp. It's gotta be placed in historic context. And nooooo, I am not saying YOU only watch Harry Potter movies, or even implying, I am just giving an example. | |
