I've been in plays where the audience has given us a standing O. It always diminishes my opinion of that particular audience and I'm left trying to disguise my feelings of ---> whofarted

At a concert...I am generally standing anyway. I have seen smaller performances and if it is a sit down affair, I will be one of the first to give a standing ovation if it's a great performance esp if I know someone in that performance.

I gave Prince like 30 standing ovations during the musicology tour, at the Staples Center. I was sitting next to the biggest fam...I wonder if she lurks here, she kept calling him "baby"
"You go baby" "yeah, baby" "i'm over here baby" "I love you, baby" "come back soon, baby" dear god... eek

You actually sat down at the concert? At the one I went to, everyone was standing and clapping, so there was no need for a standing ovation.

I like to stand with the Dems when I'm watching the State of the Union speech. And I look real hard at the Republicans on TV while I'm clapping.

Anxiety

it's hard to distinguish between standing Os at rock concerts and having to do it because you have to stand up anyway. i guess that's why people have to hoot at concerts when they're really into it. and it's why the band always has to ask "are you having a good time?" cuz, like, you're already standing. and O'ing. they don't know how you're feeling about things, really. i guess if a band is mediocre and you really want to make a point at a concert, you'd sit down and clap only as much as you feel is polite. the SITTING O. nod

I have no idea what I'm talking about. shrug

I wear jeans w/ a somewhat low rise. So standing is an effort for me - I have to simultaneously (& gracefully) pull my shirt down to avoid showing crack. Therefore I have to be really blown away to stand for a mf. I'm happy to clap anytime, but you gotta do tricks to get a bitch on her feet neutral
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

Yeah, it kind of is! Sometimes, it's all I can do not to yell over the clapping, "Yo! Sit yer asses down! We weren't that good!" lol
