[Edited 5/4/08 17:52pm] I thought the last one was cool but I wasn't really into it like I am when a movie really is good to me. i dunno. they kinda messed with the true story of Bruce Wayne a little where now the books have followed the lead of the film but I can live with that. I also didnt realize how much the 90s Batman films had that (almost) silly comic book/movie criss cross if you know what I mean? Batman Begins, to me, was a more real with real city streets and buildings. Much of it was filmed on a set as well but there were lots of exterior shots that the 90s flicks didnt have. On a side note, I just wish DC Comics would sort themselves out and make more movies.

Hmmm from the trailer I wasn't all that impressed with Heath.

With Batamn Begins we finally got Batman done right on film. Now, with this one, it looks like we'll finally get a big screen version of the Joker that is equally accurate to his comic counterpart! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

But have you seen the "Jokerized" version?

I sorely disagree. He's too dark. Of course I'm just going by the trailers, but it doesn't seem like they're gonna put enough funny into him. The Joker is great because of his fine balance of scariness and humor. It looks like they leaned more to the horror side with this one....he's not gonna be funny enough. The animated Joker was good because he still held up the funny, but was still really fucked up. And the same with Nicholson's Joker. I thought he balance there was PERFECT. Like that "commercial" he made for his Joker products. He advertised his killing of the people but made the commercial lighthearted and funny....I tihnk Heath's is gonna be too dark Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

The reason The Joker is so sick is that his comedy is death and he is the only one that gets his jokes. Did you catch the "here's my card" line? That is as close to comedy as The Joker should get. He is a homicidal maniac, not a comedian. And if you watch the "Jokerized" version of the trailer, there is plenty of dark comedy in there. I don't think you'll be disappointed unless you want a bunch of one liners out of The Joker. [Edited 5/5/08 21:02pm] Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. [Edited 5/5/08 21:02pm] I see where you're coming from, but I IMO, it's more like he's a comedian, and death is his "act". In the books he makes plenty of one liners and has a sense of humor. The scene in the 1st Batman movie where he's at the meeting with the mobsters, and he electrocutes that guy with the hand buzzer. THAT'S the joker I love. And then he starts singing and making jokes as the guy dies. Or when he's watching a thing about Batman on TV and breaks the TV with one of those retractable boxing gloves. I think that was a perfect representation of the Mr.J [Edited 5/5/08 21:20pm] Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

Mars23 said: Damn. I wonder if that's real. I'm still wondering how this whole flick is gonna play out. On one hand they're gonna introduce the Joker, but they're also gonna try to put Two-Face in as well. That's gonna be a lot for one movie. Maybe they'll go Spider-Man and have Bats fighting both? The trailers and ads seem to focus A LOT of the J-man and not very much on Dent which leads me to believe Two-Face might not even be a serious focal point. As in, he'll become two-face in this one, and in the next one, we'll see him lose his shit and go after Bats... Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

I think that was a perfect representation of the Mr.J [Edited 5/5/08 21:20pm] Well, I personally didn't care for Nicholson as the Joker. He was entertaining, but I never once thought it wasn't Jack Nicholson in clown makeup. It was a fun performance, but it was Jack in a costume, nothing more. To me, the Joker is just completely bugg-nuts insane, and you never know what aspect of his personality is going to come to the fore. He is as likely to scar you with acid as he is to pull a harmless prank. Ledger is obviously playing up the more murderous aspect of his personality, and I think that is just fine. Remember, this is the nutjob who crippled Barbara Gordon, then took nude photos of her shattered body to show to her father...just because he thought it was funny. This is also the sicko who beat Jason Todd to the point of death with a crowbar. Sure, he might pull a gag like the boxing glove thing, but he also is a ruthless killer to the core. That aspect was hinted at in the Burton films, but not fully explored. I also think you'll see more humour from Mr. J in the actual film itself. I think they are downplaying that in the trailer, just so we see that this isn't the same ol' thing we've seen in previous incarnations. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

His sense of humor is just twisted. It's not like he's chalres manson, he's a killer, but the killing is something he finds funny..... Like in the movie, when he kills that guy with a feather pen...classic Joker. Killing someone with a sense of humor. Like a practial joke, but instead of a zapped hand, you actually get electrocuted to death.... [Edited 5/7/08 2:59am] Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

Tim Burton's films are always a little light-hearted which I didn't get at all from Alan Moore's story.

Thanks! Yeah, I took a break for a while, primarily because I was incredibly busy, but also just to have a change of scenery. I find that I'm enjoying being on the Org again, far more than I was before the break, so it's all good! There wasnt anything funny about that action , but when the Joker says " I dont care much for the volumes condition , theres a hole in the jacket and the spine appears to be damaged " thats brilliantly dark humour . The Joker nededs to be funny , if only to himself , otherwise its just some guy in white make up . I do sometimes fear that Nolan is more interested in making a horror movie than a comic book movie , but I'm mega-excited about the new film nonetheless .
