I WILL say I think the Koreans have got it right though, when it comes to engagement rings.

When they get engaged, they give each other a gold band.

It isnt until they get married that the groom puts a diamond ring on his brides finger..

I find that much more sensible than our way.. nod

A law??? It's a gift! If the dude decides he's gonna give a ring he can't expect to get it back, that's insane. If it's a mutual break up then the "right" thing for the woman to do is give it back, but we're not inclined to do that. And if he's a dick then damn right I'm not giving it back, I'll throw it in a river right in front of him then give him a mask and flippers and say "Fetch!".

Amen clapping
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

girls, if your relationship went sour, would u really want to keep the ring as a reminder?

dont give it back to the guy...that way it cant be "recycled" by him lol

but once a couple are married, all bets are off- the ring is hers to keep IMO
seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before music beret

I can only afford a squrting ring. Would it be considered rude to give that as an engagement ring?

When my engagement broke up in 2004, I would've given the ring back if he asked, because I didn't want to fight about it. However, he was such as @$$ I wasn't going to offer. hmph!
He proposed on Christmas Eve, so as far as I'm concerned Judge Judy can kiss my ass! confused He got a sweater, I got a ring! lol

No, seriously- it's still sitting in the box- someone asked the question: No, I don't want it as a reminder of a bad point in my life.
I have friends who have reset the stones into other pieces of jewelry-- uh, no...
That ebay idea doesn't sound too bad, tho! wink

I got engaged when I was barely 19 (ah, young and foolish). I got the ring back and actually my mom bought it off of me. The Girl didn't protest when I asked for it back.

If the relationship doesn't work out give the ring back, an engagement ring isn't a gift its part of a contract that you and significant other is beginning. Just cause things don't always work out doesn't give you the "I'm going to be a bitch and hurt him/her as much as i can to make myself feel better" right.

That attitude just shows how childish one actually is. At least the other person got away from you before it was too late.
