Apple , Inc.

I'm sorry, this is so cliquey and whatever.

But I love Apple Products.

I just love them. I mean love love love them.

Once in a while a company comes around , like Audi, or whatnot, figures out how to make a sexy beast, dressed up in understated elegance.

Right now, Apple Inc. is that company to me.

I've owned an iPod Shuffle 1g, iPod Nano 1g, IPod Nano 2g, and a Macbook.

I have loved every product. I mean, not just cause they're easy to use, but because they have a sexy factor that their competitors miss the mark on.

After the few short months I've owned my Macbook, I've run OS-x Tiger (which I LOVED), and now OS-x Leopard on it. Bottom line: This OS gets my pussy wet. I bought a manual to help me learn to use it, but I've yet to pick it up. I pretty much was able to figure everything out on my own (burn folders, shortcut keys, system settings, etc. etc.) with little effort. It's not as perfect as folks have told me though--apps will crash from time to time (Apple's own Safari 3 is one of the major violators falloff) but you can kill the application and be up and running with no issues at all--I've seen apps bring XP to a hault--though, honestly, I'm not familiar enough with Vista to see if this also occurs on Vista.

I don't know much about scripting on Apple (what I mean by this is what their text based OS command line program is. For MS , it's the DOS prompt). But so far, with the ease in which you run, install, or uninstall everything, I don't need to know this stuff---I mean, there's no fucking registry to fuck up! woot!

Other competing products can be found that match and/or exceed their specs, feature set, etc., but let's face it--I can't be caught dead in a Starbucks carrying those. I mean, you either buy the Members only jacket or you don't--you don't walk into the skating rink wearing a cheap Sears knockoff, ya heard?

ok, let's see the arguments ensue! lol

Mine has this tiny chip in it. I hear they have an aluminum macbook looming.

If this is the case, I may be looking to get one next year lol

The plastic one is nice--just not durable as I'm starting to see. I need to take better care of it.

oooh if you find anything out about that let me know please! nod
once my warranty is up next summer (09) i'll probably look into it
this summer though i want to see if the store i purchased it from will repair it (well really, if apple will fix it and adhere it to my warranty and not charge me extra)

i really don't know how they got there, after time they just appeared and it'll only be 2 years old this june sigh

Think secret posted the pictures of it about 3 months ago, and it was pulled post haste falloff

So I'm pretty sure the aluminum macbook (consumer grade--not the pro) is coming soon.

I saw the pictures. It's even thinner than the current macbook. The screen has a thinner "edge" to it, and it asthetically looks like the brushed aluminum style and color selection of the Ipod Classic--I mean exactly.

Now, thinksecret has been known to be wrong, but being that they were asked to take the pictures down almost immediately upon posting them might signal that they're probably true.

We all know that in late January Apple is going to announce some new products. I hope this consumer macbook ends up being true--if not, then the Ultra-thin sub-notebook looks like it will be the next big thing.

Pretty much for notebooks, I've decided I'll stick with Mac for the time being.

But having owned this macbook, I may swap my main PC over to Mac too--I just don't miss being on a PC at all.

I don't know how I feel about Mac. I mean, I love the ease of use and friendly-like interfaces. But the company itself makes me sick.
You pay for every update, which comes very quickly. You have a LOT more for what you'd pay with a similar PC, and their trasition to Intel processors really fucked up everyone who bought the G5 just before that.
The problem with the batteries of the iPod, where it costs you almost like a new iPod to change the battery when it's time, is ridiculous.
The fact that it's illegal to run Mac OSX on a PC is a joke. You buy aprogram and they tell you what you can do it at your own home.

So I don't know...They got cool stuff, but I wish someone else would've sold these products at reasonable prices and terms.

Bottom line: Do you want to look awkward walking into Starbucks holding a MS notebook, or god forbid , a Zune? Ariel!

Actually, I have a Tablet PC, and I'm using Sansa as an MP3 player. which unlike your iPod, the memory is expandable. How difficult is it to add an expansion slot? not too difficult. How difficult is it to add a GPS to the iPhone, like most recent gadgets do? And why the limited bluetooth?

Don't get me wrong. my mom just bought an iPod touch for herself, and I love it. but is it really comfortable for me? no. if I want to skip a song with my sansa, I put my hand in my pocket, press a button which I already know where it's located, and there we go. No pulling out the iPod Touch, unlock it, press somewhere on the screen or move your finger, then lock it and place it back in your pocket.

I hate Microsoft too. their products are all flawed. and every time a new product is out, they claim it's the one we've all been waiting for. The after you pay for it, you realize it sucks just the same, except now you also have to wait for all other companies to adapt their products to it.

If I have the extra cash, yeah, I'd buy the iPod Touch, for fun. If I simply want to listen to music, I'd stick to the Sansa.

Indeed it does, my company is a microsoft partner and since it was released a year ago we have not installed 1 in a business environment, unfortunately we will HAVE to migrate at some point so right now i am using XP Black which is a gash version done by som edeveloper. It picks up all updates from the legit microsoft server and is guaranteed safe and virus free BUT it has a Vista GUI so i can learn my way around Vista without the hassle of compatability problems

I have one. The laptop (HP a6000) came with one. But I couldn't use the ArcGIS software I "have" on it (only the "to be released" 9.3 version will work on Vista...)

XP black is a complete OS but you can put loads of GUI's ( i guess they are sort of skins) on top. You can run it without a licence and it picks up all the updates blah blah. I run loads of bespoke software for my job and they all run on it fine.

You pay for every update, which comes very quickly.

Well, you pay for every major update and the vast majority of people would tell you they are worth it. Apple announced it would be slowing down the releases; that proved true with the latest version, Leopard (10.5), which was released 2.5 years after Tiger (10.4).

The problem with the batteries of the iPod, where it costs you almost like a new iPod to change the battery when it's time, is ridiculous.

Are you speaking from experience? iPod replacement batteries have always been about $50 dollars (and you can get them cheaper). More importantly, the concerns about having to replace the battery are blown out of proportion. I've owned a lot of iPods (because I upgrade) and I've never had a battery run out. My original iPod's battery was going strong after 3+ years when I sold it.[/quote]

Been thinking about a new ipod, the kid got the touch for xmas for herself (I was not too happy about that purchase pout) But I really can't justify a new ipod when I don't use my nano to its full capacity shrug I know one thing, I am so happy to be back with a mac I could burst. dancing jig
