Decorating for Christmas

As some of you may know, I moved into a brand new, much larger house over the summer and for the first time in YEARS have felt like going all out with decorating for the holidays.

eek I didn't know what I was getting into.

When you come through our front door, we have foyer with an open ceiling in front of a curved staircase. We had the BRILLIANT idea to put a 12 ft Christmas tree there.

Good thing it's artificial and pre-lit. whew Sucker is HUGE!!!! I might have it decorated in time for Christmas!! doh!

I will say though, it is beautiful mushy

lol It's not done yet! I actually have to go out and buy a taller ladder to decorated the tree! So all the pictures would be of is a set up tree and boxed of decorations on the floor around it.

We bought a whole shopping cart full of decorations and I don't think it will be enough to cover the whole tree fully. eek The tree is massive lol

But yes, I will post pictures ASAP!

I dunno. I think I associate it with my childhood, with family times. And, there's no family at my house... lol

I have a new julbock this year. It looks like these ones but is nicer and more well-crafted:

The julbock is an old Swedish tradition with roots all the way back in the heathen days. Long before santa claus started handing out Christmas presents it was the julbock that did it, and there were also plenty of games surrounding this character.

In the city of Gävle, they each year build a huge julbock in the town square:

...and every year someone (illegally) burns it down. It's almost become a tradition.

Glad you like it. smile

Pretty much everybody here has at least one julbock in their house at Christmas, so for me it's hard to imagine Christmas without them.
