I'd stay in Seattle. If I had the $$, I'd probably live in some swanky place on Capitol Hill. Swanky = a deck with a hot tub and a view of the city.

If I knew for certain where I want to live, I would simply move there. It really isn't that difficult, as long as you can find a job at the new location. You just pack up everything in boxes, rent out your place and take off! I've done it twice.

It's difficult when it's a foreign country and you need a work visa, though.

That didn't stop me in Japan (I simply applied for a visa and got it).

It didn't stop me in Canada either for that matter. innocent

And what places would that be? Even though Americans aren't very popular in the world, I find it hard to imagine a country that would completely exclude you from applying for and acquiring a work visa because of your nationality. And even if they would, there's always the black market. Just go for it, you'll find a way. nod

It's difficult for me anywhere in the EU. I can certainly apply, but from what I've seen I will not get one. I don't qualify in the UK, at least. I do not have a college degree and I'm not specially skilled in anything. I would need to find someone to hire me and have the employer apply for my visa, explaining why they couldn't find someone within the country to take the position.

It's not impossible, but exceedingly difficult for me.

And I'm a legal and lawful girl. I follow rules. I'm not about to do anything other than that. It's just the way I am.

But I'm fine here too. smile

hmmm Not having a college degree does complicate things. For some reason I assumed that you had one. As for special skills though, having English as your first language is a big advantage in many countries, at least if you're prepared to work as a language teacher (get a TESL or TEFL certificate too and you'll be in demand). It is a pretty high stress job, but at least it would enable you to live abroad for a while which is an amazing experience.

How much do you have left before you could get a degree? "Just" a thesis maybe, as was the case for me? It might be worth going back and completing it, if for no other reason at least for the sense of accomplishment.

Nope, I'm practically starting at the beginning. I didn't even finish a year before I had to drop out cause I couldn't afford to pay for it. (Long story, but I didn't qualify for financial aid and my parents didn't help me at all.) And I wasn't doing well anyway. I wasn't ready for school then (I was in quite a rebellious phase), and somehow I haven't gone back.
