Mine is a kiddie book also; Crusade In Jeans by Thea Beckman, I do not hink it was ever translated in English, but it is the story of a 13 y/o boy that time travels to medieval times to see a knights tournament.

He gets stranded in that time, of course and joins a children's crusade to set free Jerusalem. His adventures are thrilling and esciting and show the side of medieval times you never hear about. It aint all knights and dragons and stuff.

And the book's about an event that actually happened. So a good mashup between boy's fantasies about knights and the way it actually was. Love to zone out with this book as it is still adventurous. Amazing read.
