That's so fucking ridiculous.

First of all, I don't believe that signing that piece of paper is a particularly sturdy legal contract. I'm very familiar with those 'return' promises that people sign, and I've never heard of one actually being forcibly enforced until now. The dog was her property, and once she gave it to the other people, it was their property. They didn't have the right to remove it from the new family (unless there was an actual local law giving them that right). The family could have said no and I doubt that the rescue organization would have had any recourse.

But what really pisses me off is the massive powertrip that so many animal rescue people get on. I've known a BUNCH of them. They are trying to do something good. But you know, there are a lot of animals in the world who need homes. To take a dog out of a good home to return to a shelter is insane.

I suspect they were trying to make an example out of Famous Lady. rolleyes

whew !!!!! I thought for sure you might be mad with my position lol All I know is that I have had experience with shelters and the people who run them and as someone who does love and care for animals, I was treated like a piece of shit for no good reason confused My roommate who is like Dr. Doolittle and one time almost caused a pile up because she screeched to a halt at the bottom of a hill to run out into the road to save a nest that was laying in the street, even she didn't want to deal with the rescue agency when we had to take her dog there.

These people break rules as they see fit.. They didn't make Ellen fill out an application for the dog.. read below

Just in: The attorney for Mutts & Moms tells ET that ELLEN DeGENERES' formerly adopted dog has been placed in a new home.

On her show Wednesday, Ellen addressed the importance of micro-chipping pets to insure proper ownership. She contends that the reason she cannot claim ownership of her adopted dog, IGGY, is because his identity chip was still registered to the rescue agency.

Sources tell ET that while the agency claims Ellen broke her contract by giving him away to a trusted co-worker, the Mutts & Moms owners themselves have not followed all the rules set by their company. They allegedly did not require Ellen or her partner PORTIA DeROSSI to fill out an application, nor did they change the registered owner information as they said they would.

Additionally, it is said the contract in question does not contain an age clause, another reason given by Mutts & Moms for taking back the dog.

Our sources also tell us the family Ellen gave the dog to -- her hairdresser, her husband and their two pre-teen daughters -- did fill out an application online when the dog took up residence with them. It was at that time the agency said they would come out to inspect their property as part of the adoption process. Instead, they reclaimed the dog and calling the police. As Mutts & Moms were officially registered as the owners by the chip, authorities turned over custody to them.

New York post says:

October 17, 2007 -- ELLEN DeGeneres may be crying in public over the dog she gave up, but her flack, Kelly Bush, is doing the TV host's dirty work behind the scenes.

Yesterday on her show, DeGeneres bawled over Iggy, the mutt she adopted a month ago, then passed off to her hairdresser two weeks later, claiming the pup didn't get along with her cats.

But in handing off the pooch, DeGeneres broke a contract she'd signed with Pasadena-based pet adoption agency Mutts & Moms stipulating she was to return Iggy to the agency if the pet wasn't a good fit for her and girlfriend Portia de Rossi.

When Mutts & Moms called to check on the dog, DeGeneres told them she had given it away. On Sunday, they went and took Iggy back, leaving the hairdresser's two kids devastated. DeGeneres begged publicly for them to return it to the family, saying she was an "animal lover" who thought she was doing the right thing.

But Keith Fink, a lawyer for Mutts & Moms, tells Page Six's Marianne Garvey it's all an act. Behind the scenes, DeGeneres' publicist was calling the small agency and threatening it, says Fink, who played a vicious voice-mail message for us:

"This is Kelly Bush. We are filing a legal case against you. We are going to be contacting the media. This is not going to be good for your store or your organization. You did not do the right thing. You need to call back. There is no reason for you to take this dog. Please call back before this gets further out of hand."

"Ellen's lying," said Fink. "She is using her power and her access to the media to destroy this agency in the media. This is a woman who has signed many seven-figure contracts. She knows what she signed."

According to Fink, after yesterday's show aired, Ellen's fans bombarded Mutts & Moms' owner, Marina Batkis, with threatening calls to "burn her house down." One fan said, "You slimeball bitches are not worthy of living. How dare you make Ellen cry. Give Iggy back!"

Bush denied making threats. "I have not left any threatening messages at all," she said. "The agency threatened to go to the media and I said that wouldn't be a good idea. I told them there's just no need to escalate this . . . They started this by wanting to take it public. I was the one who said, 'Let's talk about this.' "

omg seems like all different storys leaking out now..

You know, the more I hear about this the more pissed I get lol That shelter dragged the cops to the house of those 2 young girls to take that dog away. Why did that family have to be subject to that exaggerated a response and now the agency has placed the dog with another family! And how many families have kids and they limit the adoption to only families with kids that are on their way to college? They can hardly be in the position to bitch about how many unwanted pets are out there when they are placing irrational roadblocks in the way. 12 and 14 is not 4 and 6.....

K why does TMZ have video of the whole thing that happened sunday night when they took the dog?

Exclusive footage btw.

Ellen and Portia is so concerned that the agency is taking the dog away, yet they have time to phone up TMZ and tell them whats about to go down?

Publicity Stunt plain and simple.

Couldn't have been any stunt without the actions of that whack ass rescue lady starting trouble.

I was just thinking about this last night. My fucking loser piece of shit brother in law has been a curse on my family for the last 17 years. The cops have been called many many times and every single time he walks away without any blame, without responsibility and the cops have even taken his side against us when any sane person could see he is the problem. One time he came over to our house and I don't know why he started with my uncle but he karate kicked at him, but didn't make contact. He did it to intimidate and scare him and so my uncle, who is retarded, grabbed a knife because he got scared and so Bob got the knife from him and then attacked him punching and kicking him. He knows karate and that is how he attacked my retarded uncle.

He had my uncle on the floor and he is screaming and my mom comes running and she's yelling for him to get off him and he's all flipped out and out of control and he's just punching and punching and punching. Finally my mother grabbed a broom and started to hit him over the head with it. The cops were called and they got both sides of the story and he said that my uncle attacked him with a knife and it was self defense and my mom told the cops that he instigated it by intimidating my uncle and that he had previously beat him up and knocked out his front teeth. The cops ended up taking his side of the story and they took the knife and my mom's broom as evidence confused

But the cops fulfilled their duty to protect and serve here and forcibly removed a dog from a family. Good god, what the hell is wrong with this picture. Contract dispute, cops get involved and take the dog away. Domestic dispute, cops get involved and leave the perpetrator to further victimize the family while making the victims into perpetrators. If anyone ever wonders why people have complete and utter hatred for the cops, this is just one of the millions of reasons why.....
