Ellen DeGeneres breaks down on her show over puppy dilema...

Man this is unfortunate! Ellen was only trying to do the right thing and it came back to slap her...I hope it all worked out for the best and that the adoption agency considers changing the names over to the family! For Ellen to breakdown the way she did...it shows how much of a heart she has for animals and children...my heart goes out to her...

Obviously she wasn't trying to do anything wrong, but these places have rules for a reason.

They don't want people to adopt the animals & then just get rid of them once they decide "they can't keep them." And that's just what she did.

It's too bad if she really found a great home for the dog, but c'mon. She should be aware of rules before she adopts a pet!

And I don't see why that family can't apply to adopt that dog immediately and get it back.

If I were the adoption agency..I would've done just that..have the adoption papers signed over to the family...

I hope this happens...I'm a dog lover and it's clear that Ellen had intention to make sure the dog was in a safe home. But you have to read what you sign. She broke a rule..but she acted with her heart on this one clearly.

nod Good point ERIN! lol

Sounds like she hastily adopted the dog and got rid of it, assuming that her money & celebrity meant she didn't have to follow rules.

Too bad to put the family & dog through it, but after appealing on the show, they'll probably get the dog back.

I dont think Ellen acts like those 'type' of celebrities. She has many other pets. Iggy just did not work out. She says she took all the proper steps in adopting the pup even assuring it get neutered. She is probably close with her daily hairdresser and just thought this was the perfect scenario for the family and the pup. Like I said before...she acted out with her heart and nothing more...

This is a sad situation..I actually saw this show this morning...but you would think that if the animal adoption agency thought Ellen was good enough to adopt the dog, wouldn't they at least give her the benefit of the doubt that maybe she would have found an AWESOME home for that dog. The agency acted like she gave it to some horrible folks that were going to beat the dog, and instead of making such a big deal...the agency should have just offered the new family a chance to adopt the puppy as soon as they learned this, or went to the new home to see if the puppy was doing well. It's a shame...because not only was the puppy pulled from a home that it loved, but two little girls that loved the puppy had to be hurt as well. disbelief

But that's just my opinion.... nod

you're right, she wasn't acting out of anything but love for animals.

But not knowing/following the rules, paying your vet to sleep with it lol, getting rid of the dog, & crying about it on your show are kinda "celebrity."

But you know what? I'd make an exception for her. But I'd demand to come on her show & publicize the center & the cause nod

This is why I can't stand the fanaticism over animals. I mean here you have someone who went outerspace distances to make sure that animal was taken care of, and it obviously was and because she didn't read one of the "rules" they go and create chaos and havoc. What good reason would they have for doing this? Power tripping is probably at the root of it.....

I really think you are completely wrong about this. She has a history of being involved in animals and made a choice she thought was going to work for her and it ended up not working. She did the responsible thing by finding the dog a home instead of keeping it and neglecting it.

You're missing the whole point on their stance. They don't want people to think that these dogs are just disposable, passing it from one owner to the next. Policy is policy and they have procedures that are to be followed.

And to be honest, she didn't even have the dog for that long, so this claim of all this work she put into it is not all that credible.

I like Ellen and I don't think she meant anything but good but I certainly can see why the shelter did what they did. They are not the bad people here.

But neither is she really.

but she shouldn't have adopted it in the first place unless she was ready to care for it. That's all the rules try to ensure.

But like I said above, I would make an exception if I was them.

I've tried to get on the show 2x. I didn't get there on time both times so we were in the Riffraff room or whatever they call it. She usually comes in through that room before going into the studio. My cousin Maria and I sandwiched her and we danced for a quick second. She was very nice.

It must be harder to get seats now..we went during the first season and sat in the 3rd row..it was so fun and it was my first experience in an actual TV show taping!

2nd was 'Will & Grace'...the longest 6 hours in my life!
