Changing Your Hair - NEW ATTITUDE on Life

Bare with me folks, I'm going to attempt to make this thread more than just a shallow hairfest.

I've noticed that my hairdos reflect my life and vice versa. That when I wear hair that's a bit out of the ordinary for me, my life is going through some experience that reflects that.

As some of you know early last year (or was it late 2005? confuse ) I grew my hair out to shoulder length. This was part of an attempt to blend in with the new fad of folks growing out their hair. The problem is that longer hair, FOR THE MOST PART, looks good on teenagers and a very select few adults--I ain't one of them. Most adult males just look strange with long hair, and in Jerseykrs's case, rather unkempt. So I cut it back.

But I essentially cut it back to the medium length fauxhawk I wore in 2003/2004 which is kind of boring. But it was SAFE. My life routine had reflected this.
Everything I ended up doing was safe. The constant, never ending drone of a mundane life had caught up to me.

I decided that 2007 will be different. I'm going to have fun this year, and experience things that I haven't yet, or things I haven't done in a long time. As a result, when I walked into the salon I told Jason, "I don't care what you do--just dont' shave me bald."

So he took my hair down to shorter than a half inch, texterized and thinned the hell out of it (I have very thick black hair naturally), and gave me something resembling sort of an EMOish crew cut. And I fucking LOVE IT. And I love wht it represents in my life: renewal. A chance to start over. An uncharted path to my unknown destinies. Salvation.

Also, for those of you who care, Bed head is coming out with a new Mouse-product that works with short hair. It comes in a red bottle and I can't remember the name of it, but the salon is supposed to call me this week and let me know when it comes it. excited

Do you find that when you start over in your life, that you change up your hair or your clothes? I once knew a woman who discovered that her husband was having second thoughts about the marriage. She immediately got rid of her chruchy clothes and started working out, and now looks like a completely new woman. Her husband stayed with her as they went through counseling, but she's no longer the same person.

Is coombayah spelled coombayah? Is it with less o's? Is it three seperate words? With hyphons? Maybe with a k at the start? But that might then lend it a hint of racism when it is a song of love. You can't have that.

If it really bothers you, there's doctors out there who can turn it into a really nice vagina.

Then why not save yourself the embarrassment of asking for Prep H at the chemist by having your asshole turned into a vagina? I've never seen a vagina with haemmroids, not even in amateur wheelchair porno.

I like it. smile

I'm having my hair done today actually. And I'm in turmoil over it. I've been trying to grow it out. And it's at that frustrating stage where I HATE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE.
I never hate my hair. It really makes me sad to hate my hair.
But if I'm going to have long hair, I have to hold on and keep letting it grow. But if it stays in this ugly in-between stage much logner, I'm going to lose all my hair self-esteem.
What to do?

My stylist will know, I suppose. sigh

Incidentally, every time I've cut a bunch of hair off, I've felt GREAT about it. It does give you a new inspiration. But I've never felt that way about growing it out. hrmph

short hair is cute! I have long ago stopped caring how my hair is. No more dying it or doing radical things to it. Mostly because there aint that much to do with it anymore. I do miss doing stuff to it, but I wanna keep what's left intact.

Yes. Yes I did. smile

All in all, I do feel better after my cut. My hair was out of control bad. For me, anyway. I really hate having bad hair. It's all I got, ya know? lol

I agree with you; changing your hair can change the way you feel. When I've had afros in the past I've felt more funky, for instance. smile

I like it. It's kinda similar to how I have it, but black and without the receding parts and almost certainly with a lot more spent on it. thumbs up!
