Yeah I feel for him too....not only because of the gaffe, but also because of all the hype that the sports media heaped on him when he replaced Bled-slow...this guy now has to hear all of the crap about how he wasn't ready...he couldn't handle it...blah blah blah....from the same yahoos who voted him to the Pro Bowl as the 1st backup QB.....its sad that before the Saints exposed how to play him, the "experts" were exhaulting him as if he was Montana reincarnated.....I like the guy, so I hope he recovers....

If they're smart, they'll start off right away by attacking the Eagles secondary, which is without one of its best players, Lito Shepard.....if they play the way they did in week 5 against them, or a bit better, the Who Dats will certainly move on to the NFC Champeen-ship.....now all we need is the mother of all upsets by the Seahawks.....make Rex Gross-Man and go over and thru the Bears defense.....

No prob..... eek

Seahawks at Bears - Playoff Preview

SEAHAWKS AT BEARS GAME AT A GLANCE
The Seattle Seahawks (9-7, 1-0) will travel to the Windy City for the second time this season, this trip for a Divisional Playoff game versus the Bears (13-3). Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. PT.

The Seahawks advanced to the second round after slipping by the Dallas Cowboys 21-20 in a Wild Card matchup last Saturday at Qwest Field. Seattle entered the postseason tournament after winning their third consecutive NFC West title. Before last season, the team
had never won consecutive division titles. The Seahawks also ended a five-season NFL streak in which the Super Bowl runner up has not made the following postseason. Seattle became just the second team (Tennessee, 2000) in the last eight seasons to return to the playoffs having lost the previous Super Bowl.

With their win over Dallas, Seattle became the first Super Bowl runner-up to win a playoff game the following season since New England won a Wild Card game in 1997 versus Miami on the heels of a Super Bowl XXXI defeat to Mike Holmgren’s Packers.

For Seattle, this was their fifth division title in club history, and fourth since Mike Holmgren took over in 1999. Seattle won the AFC West in 1988 and 1999 and has now won the NFC West from 2004-06. Before 1999, Seattle had not reached the postseason dance since 1988 when they came up short in the divisional playoff against Cincinnati, 21-13, on December 31.

Before last season, arguably Seattle’s finest season was 1984, posting a franchise-best 12-4 record but only advancing to the second round. After defeating the Raiders, Seattle dropped their second- round matchup to the Miami Dolphins, 31-10. Seattle marched to their only other conference championship game following the 1983 season after entering as a Wild Card participant. The Seahawks defeated Denver at home, 31-7, and Miami on the road, 27-20, before falling to the Raiders 30-14 on January 8, 1984.

Seattle is 6-8 all time in the postseason and 5-2 at home.

This will mark the first time Seattle and Chicago have squared off in the postseason. The two teams have played nine times during regular season and the Seahawks hold a 6-3 edge. Seattle is 3-1 at home and 3-2 in the Windy City, including a 37-6 loss on October 1 earlier this season.

The Seahawks have won two of the last three games played in the series: at Qwest Field 24-17 on October 19, 2003, and a 14-13 win on September 19, 1999. After dropping a 34-7 decision in Seattle’s inaugural season on
December 5, the Seahawks rattled off four victories from 1978- 1987. Chicago ended that streak on September 9, 1990, with a 17- 0 shutout victory.

Mike Holmgren has led his clubs against the Bears 17 times and is 14-3 in those games. He is 2-1 with the Seahawks, and was 12-2 from 1992-98 while head coach of the Green Bay Packers.

NFL Preview: Seattle at Chicago

NFL.com wire reports

CHICAGO (Jan. 10, 2007) -- The Chicago Bears demolished the Seattle Seahawks in front of a national television audience in early October, but now both teams are looking quite different.

The Bears will look to put their recent struggles behind them, while the Seahawks will try to continue their run as a team of 'destiny' when they meet in the rematch Jan. 14 at Soldier Field in an NFC divisional playoff game.

Chicago (13-3) handed Seattle its most lopsided loss in more than nine years with a 37-6 victory on Oct. 1, but on that Sunday night in Week 4, Rex Grossman was playing like an MVP-caliber quarterback while the defense was looking outstanding.

Grossman was 17-for-31 for 232 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions against the Seahawks (10-7), and the defense held Seattle to a season-low 230 yards, sacked Matt Hasselbeck five times and intercepted two of his passes.

"We have a lot to make up for, because we did not play very well," Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said. "We had better be better, because that was not very much fun."

Seattle was without 2005 league MVP Shaun Alexander, who missed the first of six consecutive games because of a broken foot, and tight end Jerramy Stevens in the October game, but both are healthy now.

"Shaun Alexander is back and Jerramy Stevens is back, too, so it's going to be a whole different game," said safety Ricky Manning Jr., who had both interceptions for the Bears in the first meeting. "They're definitely a better team now."

The Seahawks have their offensive weapons healthy, but they did not play particularly well last week. Hasselbeck was intercpeted twice, and Alexander had 69 yards on 24 carries, but Seattle still managed to beat Dallas 21-20 in an NFC wild-card game.

The Cowboys were in position to take the lead when they lined up for a 19-yard field goal attempt with 1:19 left, but Tony Romo bobbled the snap, and Seattle's Jordan Babineaux preserved the lead when he tackled the Dallas quarterback 2 yards shy of the end zone and 1 yard short of a first down.

"I think when you win a game that way, you kind of have to believe 'heck, maybe it's bouncing our way.' Call that what you want, a team of destiny, call it whatever you want," Holmgren said. "We kind of got one that maybe we didn't think we had, and all of a sudden we have it."

While Seattle brings the momentum of an incredible playoff victory to this game, top-seeded Chicago played some of its worst football of the season down the stretch.

Grossman was the NFC offensive player of the month for September, but has been extremely inconsistent since.

He has seven games with a passer rating over 100, but five others under 37, including a 0.0 in the Bears' 26-7 loss to Green Bay in the regular-season finale on New Year's Eve.

Although the Week 17 loss had no bearing on possible playoff scenarios, Grossman's horrendous play was hardly inspiring heading into the postseason. In one half of football, he completed more passes to Packers players than he did to Bears, going 2-for-12 with three interceptions and one fumble.

Grossman admitted he was distracted and his preparation was not what it should have been, but said it won't happen again.

Even the Bears' once-vaunted defense has been vulnerable.

Chicago allowed only 36 points in its first six games, but gave up 105 in its final four-regular season games.

The Bears should receive a big lift, though, when Nathan Vasher and Charles Tillman play in the same secondary together for the first time since defeating Minnesota on Dec. 3.

The Bears gave up only 178 passing yards without a TD pass and had four interceptions in that victory against the Vikings, but have since given up 1,229 passing yards while allowing 10 touchdowns and making only three interceptions in four games with a banged-up secondary.

"We lost our last game to our rival, we didn't play our best ball at the end of the football season, so it's not like we're an overconfident team right now," Chicago coach Lovie Smith said. "We're an anxious football team to go out and play again and play better than we did last time."

Just like their past two trips to the playoffs, the Bears again had a first-round bye. However, having home field in the divisional playoffs has not proved to be an advantage.

In 2001 with the second seed, Chicago lost to Philadelphia 33-19 at Soldier Field, and with the No. 2 seed again last season, it lost 29-21 to Carolina after beating the Panthers 13-3 in the regular season.

"We don't want to have that same feeling," Bears running back Thomas Jones said. "It hurts when you lose in the playoffs, because you know you're so close to making it to the Super Bowl, and that's why you play."

The Bears will likely try to keep the ball on the ground with Jones and Cedric Benson against Seattle's susceptible rushing defense.

Jones rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns against the Seahawks three months ago, and Benson had a career-high 109 rushing yards on only 13 attempts against the Packers.

Seattle allowed 116 rushing yards last week against Dallas, and is giving up an average of 152.7 yards on the ground in its past six games.

The Seahawks ended the regular season losing three of their final four games, but are in the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.

Seattle won both NFC playoff games last season at Qwest Field en route to its first trip to the Super Bowl, but has lost its past five road playoff games. The team has not won a playoff game outside of Washington since defeating Miami 27-20 on Dec. 31, 1983.

Alexander, who has only one 100-yard game over his past six while getting held to 3.5 yards per carry, isn't worried about the team's recent road troubles in the postseason.

"I call this the greatest persevering team I've ever been on," the seven-year veteran said. "Now, we're officially in the hunt for this thing."
