is so utterly depressing. I'm not usually a baby when I get sick, but I have an awful, awful stomach flu and it would be really nice if there were someone around to take care of me.
I can't even sit upright for more than 20 minutes, so I don't wanna take a shower just to go to the store for some ginger ale and apple juice and some saltines. Can someone please bring them to me?




Do any of you live alone? What do you do when you're sick?

PS - I'm whiney.

I live alone, haven't been sick too many times though (not real sick)

Oh, I love being on my own when I'm sick. I hate people fussing.

It does suck. I'm sorry hon. When I was in bed with my sprained knee a few weeks back...all I could do is sleep and struggle to get up to use the bathroom.

It's at those times when you're extra glad you have an animal friend to keep you company. My kitties didn't leave my side.

Ring a private-hire taxi to bring you stuff. I've done that in the past. It's a tad expensive though.

I rarely get sick.

I hope you feel better sweety!!!!! I wish I could run over there and take care of you.

Thanks for the sympathy, folks. I've sent a mass email to nearly everyone I know in Mpls hoping someone can drop some stuff off for me on their way home from work. I feel like SUCH a baby. But oh well.

depressing is exactly the word that came to mind when I saw the thread title It's nice to be comforted and cared for and when you are alone, sometimes it just dont cut it

Thanks again, all. I conned a friend into dropping some stuff off for me. Which is really, really nice of him.

But I still feel all yucky. ah well.

I'm the type that usually wants to be alone when I'm very sick but I understand what it's like to be sick, alone and unable to do or get things you need. It's a helpless feeling.

I'm glad you were able to get a friend to get you what you need/ed. I'm sorry you are ill and I hope you feel better soon.



(Put on a favorite mindless funny movie or television program. Not the same as having an actual person there with you to help you, but I've found it does help a bit.)

Don't feel that way. Friends are friends because they're people who care for you, and who want to help you when you need it. You'd do the same for them.

Awww, poor kitty.

I had the same and I was on my own for a WEEK! No one offered to come over (but that was cuz no one knew I was sick; I am a silent sufferer)

After three days all my food was gone and I had to go to the store myself, which you might remember is around the corner, so that was do-able.

I hope you got your cuddles and that you feel better soon.
