Great song...too short though....could have been a dance floor staple.

Now it will only see the light of day on some obscure Prince party dance floor.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

How cool!!! Everyone that I know likes it too. IT could be such a BIG hit, it's so current and could bring Prince back into mainstream. Wish he would open up and release a couple songs off of this cd, it is a rocking cd!! biggrin

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

If he released Laydown and Beginning Endlessly in the US, they would get a great response. But knowing Prince, he'll release "Walking in Sand" b/w "Lavaux (7 Minutes Mo 'vaux)"

A standout track for sure.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

What's real interesting is that according to the info leaked to the German fansite months before the album came out, "Laydown" was supposed to be the single.

I reckon that was an entirely different configuration of the album.

It should have replaced 'Purple and Gold" as the Vikings fight song. Nuff sed. This would have been killer in the Stadium every time they played.

I'm not sure a football team want's a fight song called "Laydown".

The only complaint I have about Laydown is I wish it was longer. Releasing it as a single would give a chance to have an extended version.

Haven't heard it yet but i'm damn sure it would make an awesome b-side to Laydown, you know as in back2back style. neutral

I'm okay with this song. I liked it initially ALOT, but now it's just something "decent" to listen to.

I don't know... I just think Prince must have dug out his New Kids on the Block collection.

Sounds a lot like Hangin' Tough to me!

All he needs is the "Ooooh.... Oooh... OOOOhhhh... OOOOOOOOhhhh... OOh... Hangin' Tough chorus.

confused

The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

Prince did the same exact thing w/ "Wasted Kisses" as he did w/ "Laydown" -- he saves his best, more current, edgy and relevant song for a bonus track - while the rest of the album is shit. it makes me think he knows what he's doing - and is teasing us at the end of the album to hope his next one follows the bonus track's lead..... to bad after NPS, we got the 1999 remaster.

I never thought about it being current, but maybe I don't really know what current is anymore... it actually reminded me of a song that would fit perfectly on Diamonds and Pearls or somewhere around the early 90's era...

However I do agree tha it is a neat album and certainly improves with each listen. I'm yet to blast the speakers with this one like I usually do with all his albums, maybe Laydown will sound better that way!

OMG! Yes, blast it while you're rolling down the street in your car. Alot of folks looking and bopping their heads to it!! Do it almost daily lol The song could easily be on the radio, if you listen to alot of the stuff on right now, it has that dance/pop/r&b/hiphop feel to it. Definately too pop for the D&P days and not nearly hard hophop like during those times. Honestly it's probably the hottest song that came out during the summer. Would make a great video too!! And I agree, the Vikings should use it for their theme song!! biggrin

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol
