ThatWhiteDude said: Free2BMe said: Let me correct you: Michael did NOT generalize a WHOLE GENDER. Where the hell did that mess come from? So are you saying that Prince generalized a whole gender just because he made Darlin Niki? Michael didn’t generalize a whole gender with Diana any more than Prince did with Darling Niki, and you people wonder why MJ fans respond to your BS. Please tell me HOW Dirty Diana or even Billie Jean generalized a WHOLE GENDER. Btw, don’t make up crap, because that’s what you people usually do when you don’t have anything to back your rhetoric up. So are you saying Liberian Girl, In The Closet. Pretty Young Thing, Butterflies, Break of Dawn, She’s Out Of My Life, etc. also GENERALIZED a WHOLE GENDER? Ftr, I know Michael didn’t write every song that I listed, however, those were HIS songs on HIS album. If you are going to claim that MJ generalized a WHOLE GENDER, then you need to come up with something other than YOUR feelings or opinion and explain why you claim MJs songs generalized a WHOLE GENDER and not Prince’s songs. You can’t naive enough come up with this kind of rhetoric and not expect to be challenged.😎 [Edited 11/6/21 12:50pm] [Edited 11/6/21 13:10pm] [Edited 11/6/21 13:12pm] How old are ya? You react like a hot headed teenager did you even read the whole post? Listen to the shmuley tapes and tell me how it isn't a generalization of a whole gender when he says that women bring men down just because of the thing between their legs. It's funny though. I still listen to MJ's music but stans like you are the main reason why I'm not engaging with that base anymore. Like I said. Prince did have some very questionable lyrics as well and I'll gladly call his ass out on it and most other prince fans wouldn't give a shit. Hell they'd shit on him too just for good measure, it's one of the things prince got ahead of MJ fans. It's nearly impossible to critize the good old moonwalker without his army bitching you out for it. The bottomline is that I don’t agree with YOUR assessment that Michael GENERALIZED a WHOLE GENDER. Am I supposed to agree with what you said, as if you are ENTITLED to say what you want? You people are so hypocritical. You say what you want; yet, when someone disagrees with you, you get whiny or pissy. How old are YOU? You sound like a child who doesn’t get his or her way. Get over it, if I don’t agree with you or anyone else, I going to say it. GROW UP!

You get the sense it was one-sided for awhile, Jacko seethed about Prince after the humiliation of that ping-pong game and I always felt like Dangerous was a response to P albums during the 87-90 period. There were a lot of tracks that seemed like a direct response to Batman and the embarrassing Graffiti Bridge - even as he aped his sister, he got Teddy Riley to show how engineered NJS production could break a speaker compared to the doofy GB line-in sound. I think it shifted in the 90s though, The Gold Experience was a grand retaliation. I'm afraid of Americans. I'm afraid of the world.

Can you cite a source about the rented crowd because I followed the AEG trial and I don't remember anything about a rented crowd
I also don't remember anything about him saying "nobody would pay to see a 50 years old man doing the moonwalk". I remember it being said he went into a state of self loathing and doubt before he got to the arena for the announcement but I do not remember anything about that particular comment being made. Thank you. I also followed the AEG trial and I never heard anyone cite or say any of those things either. All of it sounds like something from tabloid sources or just made up lies. I also don’t believe that Michael went into any type of self loathing and doubt. I’ve only heard people who were actually around him say that he wanted to do these concerts so that his children could see him perform. There is also footage of him being asked by paparazzi if he could still moonwalk, while he was getting into his car,He looked at them with the cameras in his face and said without hesitation “Why shouldn’t I?”. I do believe that Michael was shocked at the demand, because at the time he wasn’t promoting a new album or project. These SOLD OUT shows were based purely on his name and his fans LOVE of him and his music. The original number was 10 shows. After the unprecedented 50 shows SOLD OUT, Michael didn’t want to disappoint his fans and agreed to them. AEG said the demand was so great that another 20-50 shows could have sold out. Michael wouldn’t agree to those. All of this bullshit about trying to beat Prince’s 21 shows is just that, bullshit.Michael originally agreed to 10 shows; therefore, how could he have been trying to beat Prince? All of that mess saying he wanted to beat Prince is media manipulation and Prince fans making it into something they wanted; in order, to fit into their narrative. It makes me so very sad Michael Jackson disliked himself so intently. Prince fortunately really rather liked himself.
I think prince wanted Mj success in the beginning. He was a j5 fan after all.. he'd grown up listenimg to him and the brothers. But mj had contacted p at the end and asked him how to comeback and p suggested acapella no bells and whistles, just voice, just mj.. which mj didn't do but funnily enough, p did with piano and mic tour. So prince came for m, then m came for p. So was there a winner? You could say p as mj ended up in the mid 00s asking for his advice.... but then in 2009 mj sold out 50 huge gigs. Not p. So perhaps it's even. [Edited 11/10/21 16:42pm]

Michael wanted to do something different at that point in his career. I don’t think it had anything to do with Prince. At least, I never heard that before I read this post. That special was cancelled when Michael passed out during rehearsal due to dehydration, and was hospitalized.

It was supposed to be acoustic in the beginning of the project. Then it became mote and more playback, huge stage, special effects, etc. The project completely lost his soul in the end, besides the Mime Marceau performance on Childhood. Prince and Rick were the two that were always trying to outdo each other with each album and after "Purple Rain" happened, hell, that was the end of that feud because Rick could never top that. I still don't understand the Prince and Michael comparisons though other than the fact that they were both gay. But hell, even as gay men, they were the exact opposites. Prince was a slut and a whore and Michael was innocent and pure. Hell, Michael was classy, he was a lady. As for jealousy though, I do recall a certain one of them never having straight hair until the 1990s though and also naming not one, but two of his sons after the other one. Andy is a four letter word.

Anyway, that paragraph is special edition celebrity magazine publishing style at its best. I say that because it reminds me of one I had in the 80's that begged the question was MJ trying to steal Appolonia from Prince. If the words aren't enough, the positioning of the photos put it over the top.
And the other thing is, how do you know I didn't mean the character Moranus, y'all act like you don't know anything about worldofwarcraft and that's fine because I don't but I'm starting to want to get into creating some graphic art stuff so it's right up my alley. I'm gonna call mine "planetofpeaceart".

Even for me as a non fanatic MJ fan can see that he didn't need to challenge Prince. It's so blatantly obvious that it was Janet that was his rival/muse during the 80's. The line is all out there, beginning from 1986 with When I Think of You over Smooth Criminal to Alright, Cab Calloway 40's style Zoot suit music videos. From the posse rivalry videos from What Have You Done For Me Lately to Smooth Criminal. And ending the rivalry with New Jack Swing 1989-1991. End thread here please.
