Lies from the pits of hell... ever since Bruno became his own manager the high profile music industry folks want to snub him and not promote his music. Well guess what, despite lack of focus and underpromotion of his music he still managed to get #1 top-selling album of the week on US and JP ITunes after his performance and #2 Worldwide lol

Really graycap... they ranked Ariana Grande's uncharismatic lackluster performance the highest and the most energetic/soulful performances the lowest... absolutely ridiclous.

The music industry is riddled with stan base culture full of young teeny boppers and gay EDM/pop heads...

Bruno doesn't have a huge hype machine behind him and he doesn't force cheesy political / social messages without good reason so of course he's insulted.. they commended Ariana and 5th Harmony's horrible performances for being "empowering to women" even though it was just generic pussy popping lol

How is the music industry ever gonna evolve if we're just gonna let a couple of acts be in the top, especially giving a pass to medicority just for the acts being women???
Does anyone not see this?

Right.. Bruno is so commericalized and corporate that the media contuines to push him with a big PR marketing team and a huge hype machine to create stan bases... NOT ! lol

You're acting like he's stealing, when he's giving homages and KNOWS he does what he does and it honors the previous genuises of the past. He is humble and knows he's not a groundbreaking earth shattering creator like the ones before him yet people still want to get into a hissy fit. I don't want to name names but he's not that type lol

Some of you are seriously confused..

I rather take Mars any day other than the other low-energy low tempo awkward performances..

Childish Gambino just released a funky track

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kp7eSUU9oy8

I hope Bruno unleashed a wave of artists making funk music and getting hits on the mainstream chart.. tired of this EDM, pop, trap nonsense.

"Fake" funk or not, I don't care. It's better than the current wave of garbage and underwhelmingness.

EDIT:

Ok , then it's a generational thing and that's okay.. I still find it quite close minded but it's fine.. my grandparents grew up on Motown and they didn't like Prince at first but ended up respecting and liking him.. they're doing the same thing with Bruno right now.. but I guess it just depends on the mindset of your faamily

I'm just going to say this.

I have absolutely no problem with people not being Bruno fans; it is simple opinion on a simple, non-controversial opinion to have even if I don't agree with it. However, my issue lies in the fact that many people (on here, at least) have an issue with him despite him being and doing many things that they claim to want in an artist.

Bruno writes his own music (it's corny and sappy at worst but he still writes his own stuff), he sings very well, he is a multi-instrumentalist, he can dance and he makes music that people like to harken back to. He is far from perfect and while not on Prince's level is at the absolute least comparable to Prince with the musical capabilities he possesses. Despite all of this however, the most legitimate criticism people can use against him is that he isn't original. An artist does not have to be some groundbreaking, progressive innovator in order to be talented or make good, enjoyable music; what's more is that I'm sure Bruno himself knows he isn't doing anything new. He waxes poetic about his influences at almost every opportunity and wears them on his sleeve and yet some honestly believe that he believes in his own hype and is forging new paths? Bruno is well aware of those paths that have already been forged by those he is inspired by and is simply having fun paying homage to his predecessors. Who said music can't be fun? In having fun, he is also bringing the classic sounds of the past to a new generation of music listeners and his renditions are almost spot-on imitations of those past arrangements.

Many people (myself include) complain about how much mainstream music sucks today; we constantly talk about how weak, watered down, rhythmless and undanceable Top 40 music has been for for years now and especially this decade. We get a mainstream star who can make authentic impressions of these sounds we miss so much and people dog him out basically because he's not the stars he is inspired by. At the absolute least, you should be happy there is somebody with music who reminds you of those past sounds and may entice to listen to them.

Nobody is saying Bruno is doing something new. Nobody is saying he is perfect. Nobody is saying he is on the level of Prince, Michael Jackson, James Brown, George Clinton or any of his predecessors. We're simply saying we enjoy his music and we appreciate having somebody who can craft classic sounding music on a mainstream in contrast to what is generally heard.

Bruno Mars is pure talent, no smoke and mirrors, no gimmicks and tries to make artistic music. I can't hate on that. He has become successful without the help of a hype machine or industry pandering.

Naughty its interesting how the media always trashes Bruno but Bruno had a higher Super Bowl rating than Beyonce so how is it possible he is suddenly reduce to a "listless performer" who doesn't have star power?? He clearly is a star on his own merit and there are plenty of receipts that reflect that.

I would only add that I wish people who feel need to post the same dislike on every Bruno thread, over and over, ad nauseum would realize that we already read it the first hundred times they posted it and move the hell on. lol

It's like they think if they say it enough times they're going to force other people to change their opinion.

Gray, you are not being reasonable. lol Now we all have acknowleged that you make valid points about Bruno. However, it feels like you are ignoring or not considering the pro's that Bruno offers in todays mainstream market. You have to at the very least acknowlege that his music overall is more quality compared to his peers.

I either like a song or I don't.

Right now, he is in the don't like pile.

That fact that he plays or likes old school, or any other factors don't mean much if it isn't any good.

If u compare his current songs to say the new Childish Gambino joint.........

Gambino hits a homerun compared to Bruno.

Same style.......totally different outcome.

If you HAD to choose between Bruno, Beyonce or Drake, who would you listen too????

And you HAVE to choose so don't say neither. razz

C'mon Gray I said BETWEEN those three artists.

Pick between Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Drake. You HAVE to pick one, who would you pick between those artists? You can not choose any other artists outside of those three.

For the record.........I don't listen to any of those 3, but if I was forced 2 choose, every blue moon Beyonce comes up with a listenable track.

With that response Gray, it pretty much null and voids your entire argument on Bruno. You my boy, but you have no argument against Bruno if you much rather listen to Beyonce over Bruno. At this point, it sounds like you have a personal problem against Bruno. I can't take your adament disdain for Bruno seriously anymore given all the arguments everyone has stated on why Bruno is superior over his peers and you would turn around and rather listen to Beyonce over Bruno????

I am sorry but thats ridiculous.

I'll say it again.....just because u play....doesn't mean it's any good.

I can name at least 5 songs from Beyonce that I can listen to. I can name ZERO from Mars or Drake.

This is where I am coming from though, (and you are someone whose opinion I really value), given how critical you are of Brunos content in terms of innovation and originality, I find it shocking that you would pick Beyonce over him when Bruno is objectively more artistic than her in his music. He actually plays instruments (which I know you are big on). This is why I say it feels like your issue with Bruno is a personal issue that you would pick a "artist" who makes trashy music over him. I can't take that opinion seriously.

Now, if you haven't listened to any of his music, how can you say whether his music is good or bad if you have never listened to it??? (which I dont believe razz )
