You kind of summed it up for me. I've listened to "24k Magic" and this song a few times since they came out. I wonder - is he just mimicking an old sound really well, is he paying homage, is he trying to bring something back, or is he just trying too hard? The pseudo'50s sound of "Fuck You" kind of gave momentum to things like "Uptown Funk", and now "24K Magic" and "Versace on the Floor". Is this guy really good at copying a sound, or is it something else? I do think he's riding that "Uptown Funk" wave hard, and frankly why not? If it's there, make that money for now. But don't rely on it long-term.

I do like when musicians today revisit older sounds (whether production, or just in an instrument or idea), but is it ever too much? On the other hand, I'm not totally surprised there's so much retro sound coming around again. There's so much fucking garbage out there right now, someone somewhere has to pop up and redirect people to when music was good. And we had decades of great music, then somewhere it started to get really overproduced, dry, and boring.

Artists have those 2 or 3 fun songs released, then you listen to the album and it's just piles of shit in between. Hearing the whole album will tell the story on this one, I believe.

I'm sure some people felt and said the same when Prince started his carreer back in the day. But i don't like much this song, that 90's sound is too much.

It's a simple fun lite funk song. It's not bringing trends back or trying to be something new. Your old ass gets it cause you like 1000 songs like this from
Your favorite lol

Maybe it's Bruno..? neutral

if it was Charlie Wilson '

i'd think it was a cool modern update of his type of sound.

And i'd 100% prefer the original records..

I totally agree. I'm looking forward to the album but he can keep the ballads. Hopefully there's not too many of them.

Music is there, but it's very derivative. Lyrically he's got nothing. Derivative music and bad lyrics? Sounds like he's the new Lenny Kravitz.

Cheesy? LOL? It ain't cheesy in an unfitting way ,Bruno's personality has always been this goofy light-hearted guy. I don't know why ya'll so hard on him, shit I don't understand why anyone is. He isn't a panderer who forces political messages in his music or tries too hard to be artistic and insightful or some shit. His songs are great and the production is A+. His live performances will be even better. You and everyone else will deal
