Is Maxwell R&B/Soul's most consistently "good" artist? What album has Maxwell released that was panned by critics and/or I or you don't like? I enjoyed the first; I think the second is genius; the third was okay, the fourth was really good; the unplugged was amazing; so I've no reason to sus- pect that the new-new will not be excellent.
Embrya is up there with Parade, Popular, What's Goin' On, and House of Music for my most favorite R&B/Soul albums of all time, imo. Oh yeah: Curtis too.
Embrya is better than anything Prince put out since Lovesexy. And even then, I'd rather listen to Embrya.
Don't tell anyone I said that.
You like Lovesexy? Ugh. Well, even the sun'll shine on a dog's ass. But I rather enjoy Embrya over anything post 1987 when it comes to Prince so I agree with ya there. Hm, I don't think Prince has an album that is as sensuous and/or as sensual as it.

Meh; Embrya is gorgeous. I never heard a gorgeous Prince album. Daring? Innovative? Racuous? Perfect? Sprawling? Yes. Gorgeous? No! Sonically, I find Embrya's soundscape so beautifully arranged and produced; and the mix is amazing.
Prince's mixes during the height of his powers, were kinda boring. I'll give you an example: "When Doves Cry" has the guitar dead center; lead vocals dead center; drum track dead center - just so boring, imo. But, I'm open-minded about this . . .

Blasphemous and you must be trolling. I think he is the only extension of Marvin Gaye these days, so I think this is "saving this dude from being a has been."

Okey dokey. My late friend wasn't much of a Prince fan (she was a huge Maxwell fan) but apart from saying that most of his music didn't "do it" for her, she had nothing bad to say about him... I'm wondering what you are doing on a Prince fan site... [Edited 7/25/16 12:37pm] "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato
