I like how Maxwell makes his fans wait for albums. This suggests that he has a life outside
of catering to those who worship performers/entertainers yet have no clue who the women
are who won the Nobel Peace Prize the past five years, for example.

If Maxwell rejects entertainer pedestal worship from his fans, then he reduces the likelihood
of succombing to MVP-itis, which befell our namesake. Yes, I'm on a soapbox but that's what
I do.

//- Making people wait 10 or 15 years in between releases is insane 2 to 3 year gap is reasonable don't assume that music fans are idiots. I love Maxwell and I hope this record does well but let's be honest he bigger artist if had not taken so long to put out his music.

I agree with you but fortunately Maxwell and Sade are two artists who can get away

with it. I would add DAngelo to the list but I think if he attempted that again it would

be DAngelo who. I think 5 years is okay but in this new age of music where fans have

a short attention span it's not wise to take nearly 10 years off. I do agree with Chuck from

the standpoint of these artists having personal lives outside of music and just shouldn't cater to

fans 24/7.

Maxwell live-streamed a rehearsal on FB last week. You can watch the 10 min. clip right here.

Went to his show last night in Sacramento.

His voice is ON POINT. He still got it. Never lost it. Confident stage presence, and he was funny as hell too. (Some chick gave him her panties. He proceeded to put them on his mic stand AND SNIFF THEM. Did the rest of the show with them on his mic. Said "U NASTY, Sacramento!")

Did the hits: Everwanting, Sumthin, Ascention, Fortunate, Get to Know Ya, Lifetime (my personal favorite), Noone (ballad version), and of course This Woman's Work--with a Kate Bush intro.

As for new bSn stuff, he did LBTO and Hostage.

REALLY REALLY can't wait for the album now.

wtf

Why did he make those hihats so loud? The song sounded so perfect in the early clips without the hihats jumping out so terribly from the rest of the mix. I was expecting this to be my favourite piece of new music released this year and I'm just disappointed in what I'm hearing here.

--- I believe that people should have a personal life as well but you have to build your brand. If you are taking a break from recording then guest star on artist records or do some touring you have to keep your face out there.

I hope this is better than the last one. I would hate to think he peaked with his first album.

He didn't. He peaked with Embrya. A masterpiece.

Yeah, that one was good, too. I'm not digging anything I've heard off of this upcoming release. Looks like I'm going to skip it.

I love Maxwell to death and been rocking with him since day 1, however, I'm going to need him to put some more quick and fast tempo songs on this new album. I'm hoping they are there and I just haven't heard them yet. I like "Lake By The Ocean", "1990x" is okay, "Gods" is meh and this latest song is just ok to me too...I haven't heard one single from the new album that makes me excited or wanting to buy it quite yet. I may get it anyway just to add to my collection of all of his other albums that I own, but if I'm going to have to wait 6 & 7 years for him to pump out albums then I'm going to need for Maxwell to bring it a little more harder. Yes, HARDER. wink

I am so excited Maxwell is BACK! Not a moment too soon too. Maxwells albums on a loop have gotten me through P's death because I couldnt listen to anythingall the way through.

Maxwells albums are like D'angelos where you can play them back to back and just feel like you;re curled up in an aural warm blanket safe from the world smile

Maybe he's trying to give John Legend some competition? smile But, I hear what you're saying. I love it when Maxwell brings the Funk! I hadn't listened to his last blacksummer's album since it came out a few years back. I tried listening to it the other day and I remembered why I never went back to it. I like Maxwell. He's certainly better than most of the contemporary male vocalists riding the top of the charts right now. I just prefer him in a more uptempo setting.

I love Maxwell too, he certainly still has strong vocals, I love his singing style and I get having a few mello down to earth songs included on an album, but my gosh, c'mon, why does the whole entire album have to appear to be something I'd listen to while reading a book? Even though he looks sharp in his cleaned up, suited attire, I miss the wild hair, funky, not a care in the world era of Maxwell.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
