Visions from Innversions is so incredibly underrated. I like Imagine from John Lennon but this song is much better it should be an hymn just as Imagine.

Stevie is my favorite artist of all time. This is a hard list to make.

My picks for his top 12:

1. Living for the City - I love this song. It's not my favorite of his, but it's his greatest song ever. It is socially conscious, emotional, innovative, and the story-telling is masterful.

The rest, in no particular order:

You and I - My husband and I did our first dance at our wedding to this song.

These Three Words

Superstition

You've Got It Bad Girl (from Talking Book)

Isn't She Lovely

All In Fair Is Love

Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours

Big Brother (from Talking Book)

Don't You Worry 'bout a Thing

If It's Magic (from Songs in the Key of Life)

Do I Do

Didn't put it on my list, probably should have. It's one of my favorites. The guitar solo is beautiful.

Right on picking Free, that is a later-period gem for sure. So hauntingly soulful. I could easily pick at least 3 sets of 12 best for Stevie. Interesting that pretty much the entirety of Talking Book and Innvervisions have been selected and a lot of Song in the Key of Life, but Fullfillingness First Finale not very prominent in these lists so far (although mine included two tracks from it). One curiousity is I do not believe anyone has included Overjoyed, and that is another stone classic and was the track played at my wedding ceremony procession.

If you've got funk, you've got style.

I'm not Vainandy. razz A song doesn't have to be funky for me to listen to it. I like easy listening, adult contemporary, and country music. I'm the person who makes a Renaissance Faire thread every year. smile

You don't consider Fingertips funk? Or Golden Lady as part of his golden era?

Better? How does it get any better than this?

Superstition

For once in my life

My Cherie amour

Happy Birthday

For your love

.

Honourable mention - Harmour Love (Syreeta, but with an irresistable Stevie backing vocal).

Syreeta (Rita Wright) was his wife for a short time and I think she was in Wonderlove too.

As

Sir Duke

Master Blaster (Jammin) love it, but leave the reggae to the the Jamaicans.

.

To me Stevie was to the 70s, what Prince was to the 80s, a wizard on the keyboards, irresistable vocals and songwriting, exceot he was not as daring as Prince with lyrics. Still Stevie is in my Top 10 and I need to scope out more of his music.
