How this Project Works

* Each Sunday from February 3 through April 14, 2013, an assigned orger will set up a 10-song compilation on 8tracks.com. On the same Sunday, he/she will post an accompanying thread here in Music: Non-Prince that'll have a link to their compilation along with artwork they might select and brief "liner notes" that they've composed. The compilation parameters are wide open: Some orgers will have chosen songs of a common genre or theme; others will have highlighted an eclectic array of unsung titles; others will have called attention again to songs we already may know and love. The idea simply is to share great music.

* The entire org community is invited to listen to weekly mixtapes and chime in with thoughts and impressions on the accompanying weekly threads. Remember: We do this for fun and love of sharing music, so while we encourage substantive dialogue and critique, let's keep this in a good spirit, folks.

* To provide a consistent go-to spot, this master thread will be updated frequently to provide links to the weekly mixtape threads and to communicate any problems, schedule changes, etc.

* We settled on a 10-week cycle for Round 3, with a majority of mixtape providers this round being newcomers to the Org Mixtape Project. If you're interested in offering a compilation, but have missed out on securing one of the 10 spots, by all means please still contribute to the mixtape discussions. Please also drop me an orgnote, and I'll be happy to add you to the mixtape reserve list. In case an assigned mixtape provider drops out in a given week, you could come to the rescue us -- or, if there's enough interest, you could drop your mixtape on us for Round 4!

Background

Orger HamsterHuey initiated Round 1 of the Org Mixtape Club Project in Summer/Fall 2008. It was great fun, offering artists and titles that allowed us to discover new music, hear old favourites in a new context, and get to better know our fellow orgers' tastes. We've stuck with 8tracks.com for Round 3 because the site does not facilitate the illegal downloading of copyrighted material. When using the site -- either as mixtape provider or listener -- please be sure to abide by all rules. Moreover, let's please neither solicit nor offer the sharing of mixtape copies on this forum.

Well hello! Today I did a search on Org Music Club and found three old threads (including yours Lamma!). Then clicked on non-prince and found this! It's still going! Wow, and still on 8tracks! Haha, I just renewed my password, so I'm ready to follow some new music. Bring it on, keep it soulful and funky please!

namepeace's mix concludes this round. (Supa was scheduled to prepare one, but he's been crazy busy lately, I understand.) I suggest we take a bit of a break, and then someone can gauge the energy around starting a Round 4.
