Definitely Stevie for me. Can't say I know much of Bowie outside of Last Dance. I know more of Tears For Fears catalogue than Bowie. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

I only have both artists' 70s albums. Based on that I definitely prefer Bowie. Stevie's albums are finely crafted of course, but I prefer the more experimental stuff Bowie was doing. I listen to my Bowie albums much more than Stevie Wonder.

Awesome contest. My favorite album by either one is Songs in the Key of Life, but there are more Bowie albums that I love than Stevie albums that I love overall. Bowie is one of my top 10 artists, and Stevie is one of my top 20. Bowie wins for me. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Knowing that you like Bowie's most experimental albums, and knowing also some of your tastes thanks to your "Spin" thread, I strongly recommend you two Bowie albums of the 90's: The Buddah Of Suburbia and Outside. [Edited 4/23/13 5:57am]

i guess this is racist 2: All the white people clap your hands on the 4 now and yeah its good to have a eclectic taste. but mostly (white) Prince fans dont like any other funk or rnb artists. but prefer stuff like queen, bowie or whatever. hey thats cool for me, but its just facts and not racism.

Love them both. Def Stevie cuz I can't think of 1 of David's songs that became a HIT here in the states. I could easily google it but that takes away from the FACT that I can't remember ONE hit David had here from the 80's. The last time I heard a Song of David's played on Pop-Rock radio had to be in the 80's. Stevie's classics are remembered & better known by everyone around the World & in rotation @ Black radio.

Hey, hey, sistas like Bowie too, ask Iman Fame by Bowie, and Miss You by the Stones are my ish! Anyway, I do remember Bowie's songs, China Girl, Blue Jean, Modern Love, and of course Let's Dance. I used to watch him on MTV a lot. Very cool, visionary artist. I enjoyed his music. . Though I dig them both, it's Stevie for me. Stevie's music is just special to me. Stevie has so many great songs, I can't even name them all. I grew up on Stevie, his music was played by my family all throughout my childhood. We knew all the words, Sir Duke, I Wish, etc. I remember those summers with Stevie's songs. We played him on special days, weddings, anniversaries, get togethers and so on. We sing the chorus of Stevie's version of Happy Birthday at family birthday parties. Back in the day everyone had a Stevie song in their wedding, Ribbon In The Sky, You and I, something..... Plus, Stevie sings at everybody's funerals, so I give him some props for that too [Edited 5/6/13 15:51pm]

fame and miss you are the more funky, may i say, more blacker tunes by bowie and the stones. and thats exactly what im trying to say and thats why the black audience will like those tracks.
China Girl, Modern Love,Let's Dance, all produced by funk producer Nile Rodgers.

No typo...if you were to play David's music of course I'd remember it...But if you were to ask me to name at least ONE of David's songs I could not do it. I know he's an ICON and married to Iman. Iman is always all over the place & the fact that she's his wife and remains in the Public eye lets us know David is still alive.. *************************************************************************** People think that just because Rock Icons are iconic that people should remember every hit song they recorded and that's not always the case. Would you be able to name me ONE Gladys Knight Song that became an R&B HIT when she went Solo? Probably not but you might remember her songs that she sang with The Pips....

Are you saying that Bowie is unfunky? Well, he was funky enough that James Brown ripped off one of his songs!

Didnt i say Fame is one of bowie's funky songs? Actually fame is a rip off of funky songs in general. Just like when the beatles made come together. Just an attempt to be funky. Which in they succeeded. But that was not my point.

Don't be confused, it's simple logic....I Respect & Love ALL forms of Music and I Love Icons like David that have contributed. Do I have to own his music or remember every song he sang to give him Propers?...Nope.... If you were to ask me to name ONE of U2's songs off the top of my head I wouldnt be able to do it, but I LOVE them for their performing & humanitarian deeds...Now if you play me ONE of U2's popular songs I will remember the music & probably the Title.....I own nothing of David & U2's catalog but we Americans Love them for the Rock God's they are. ********************************************************************* You can ask me to name ANY cult-hit song by The Eagles and not only will I name one but i will bust out Soulfully singing "Hotel California" from begining to end. Most of the CD/singles I have of theirs were burned for me..I'm sure there are many people that LOVE The Eagles but don't have their Music or plan on seeing any of their shows.

You don't love Bowie. That's like saying you dig Jack Nicholson but can't name a movie of his you like. It's okay to say you just like Stevie because Bowie was never played in your house. But when you go around saying you "love" someone, don't just say it without some proof. You love all forms but you only post about R&B. Mmkay... nothing personal just saying.

I Love you and we don't know each other from Adam. Love is a Beautiful thang if you were Blessed to be raised around it. You become an Adult and you continue to pass it on. Love is the the one Constant thing in my life that I can give to my Family, Friends & Strangers that allows them to see who I am as a Person. Whether they return that same Love is their choice and if they don't I will still live my life and Love every second of it...HELLO somebody.....

I don't agree with your view on "loving" an artist, but of course I totally respect it. And, talking about "respect", if I were in your place regarding Bowie's or U2's music, I would say I "respect" them, but not love them. But that's just me. [Edited 5/8/13 23:28pm]

No need to get defensive about it.

"Songs In The Key Of Life" is overrated and not that great, just a good album with too much filler would have been great as a single LP and even then it wouldn't even be his greatest... Bowie is endlessly more interesting and made albums greater than anything Wonder made... O(+>NIИ<+)O
