I've been orgno ting, and there seems to be some possible interest in a 2013 return of the Org Mixtape C lub.

For those who don't know about this project, it's basically a group of about 10 orger s, each of whom on an assigned week posts a thread here for the rest of us to discuss a 10-song compilation that they've uploaded on an agreed upon filesharing site. Each participant can choose art and write short "liner notes" for his/her compilation, and the rest of us simply listen, read and chime in with our impressions, critiques, etc.

We've done this twice -- once in Summer/Fall 2008 and once in Spring 2010 -- and it is a great way of sharing new artists, obscure titles and, occasionally, even our own musical creations!

I'd be happy to lead the effort by setting up an Org Mixtape Project "master" thread here and scouting viable filesharing sites. I'm thinking we could set a start date of February 3, 2013, for the first compilation/discussion thread, and we could have a new entry each weekend through April 7, 2013. That gives us 10 opportunities to share music and learn about our fellow orgers' tastes.

Anyone interested in booking a week from Feb. 3 to April 7? If so, let me know, and I'll start a calendar as well as send out instructions on what you're expected to do. It's pretty easy.

O! M! G! Yes! This was one of the most memorable experiences in all the years of Orging. I listen to the original mixes on a regular basis!

I listen occasionally to the old mixes as well.

I'll wait to see what other responses come up. Hopefully, there'll be enough interest.

I'm happy to go more than 10 people. But based on past cycles, if we do too many weeks in one cycle, the listening and reviewing process might start to feel like work to some people. And this should be total fun.

I suggest we err on ending too soon and leaving participants and stragglers craving for more. Makes a better setup for a Cycle 4.

Not at all. Pick whatever you want. Some participants select tracks with an intent to inform the rest of us of unsung artists or titles; others select better-known tracks that simply hold some special meaning to them.
