371) elbow - Grounds For Divorce...

"It's not very fashionable to give a shit about anything," reckons Guy Garvey. Elbow, in contrast, arepassion personified. From the dark, breathless romance of their debut single, 'New Born' to Garvey's eyesshut, stock-still intensity on-stage, Elbow's tales of life, love and politics will stir your soul. Make you care. Inspire devotion. "Both lyrically and musically it has to be sincere," explains Garvey, cigarette crumbling between his fingers. "How many people are privileged enough to be able to scream their views from a stage?"

The upshot? A band who have things to say. A band who draw you into their own dirty, magical world, aworld of inky black despair and heart-bursting idealism. But, above all, a world that's alive with honestly rendered emotions and truths. That is, music and life at its richest. "I would like people to pick up on some of the more romantic notions of what we do," says Guy. "But the truth of the matter was that I wasn't happy for a long time."

372) Float On - The Floaters

As a heterosexual male you might guess that I don't care much about the birth signs or the personal adds delivered in four parts. But this whisper-chilled concoction has vocals so ridiculously pure your cursing ass would be squeezing out a "golly" and a "betcha" while clenched deeply within its four minutes of anti-shock therapy.

(couldn't find the full-length studio version)

378) David Sancious - Ever The Same...

Early musical influences ranged from the piano preludes of Chopin and Beethoven to the music of John Coltrane and Miles Davis. Folk music , R&B , and Rock were equally influential . The folk music of Odetta and the blues stylings of B.B. King inspired him to take up the guitar at 9 years old. “I played acoustic guitar for a few years and made some progress. Then one day my brother came home with the first Jimi Hendrix album ( “Are You Experienced” ) and instantly I became very serious about the guitar “.

The first recordings ( “Forest of Feelings” ) in 1975, followed by (“Transformation: the Speed of Love”), ( “True Stories “ ), ( “ Just as I Thought “ ), and ( “ The Bridge “ ) showed David’s skills as a composer for the first time, and led to his being considered one of the most talented and sought after keyboard players in the music industry.” I’ve always been inspired and motivated by the composing aspect of music, and I’ve always thought of myself as a composer who plays well , rather than a person who is just proficient on a given instrument. The recordings attracted the attention of artist the world over. Recent recordings include (" 9 Piano Improvisations "), ( " Cinema " ), and (" Live in The Now ").

Peter Gabriel , Sting , Bruce Springsteen, , Eric Clapton , Jeff Beck, Seal and others, have used his talents as pianist, synthesist, guitarist, arranger, and producer on recording sessions and concert tours, playing an eclectic and diverse range of music.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

393) Lewis Taylor - Waves...

[img:$uid]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/jbodine/Covers%20II/R-1078739-1190472983.jpg[/img:$uid]

When Lewis Taylor's self-titled debut burst upon the U.K. pop and R&B scenes, punters and gasbag critics were beside themselves in trying to offer enough superlatives to describe its seamless blend of soul, sophisticated pop, streetwise grooves and laid-back white-boy funk. Taylor, who possesses a voice that is infinitely more emotionally expressive than Jamiroquai's without all the faux-hippie hyperbole, or forced Stevie Wonder-isms. Taylor waltzed onto the pop music stage and created, seemingly effortlessly, the same kind of record that Paul Weller has wet dreams about. From the outset, Taylor is reminiscent of other modern visionaries in that he composes his own tunes, plays all the instruments, and is the entire range of voices.

This gifted Brit multi-instrumentalist has been referred to as his generation’s great undiscovered soul man. While the frequent Marvin Gaye comparisons are apt – Lewis often crafts intimate, urgent soundscapes evocative of Marvin’s more personal works (think “Trouble Man” or “Here, My Dear”) – equally legitimate are comparisons to Brian Wilson, Todd Rundgren, Syd Barrett and Radiohead.

Waves is track 3 from a Lewis Taylor EP titled Whoever released on Island Records in 1996.

Unfortunately, for whatever the reason, he's retreated deep into the background and hasn't been heard from for a few years now.

All videos using his music have been pulled from Youtube, hence no audio track to go along with this selection.

His music is well worth hunting down.
