MDNA is the fastest selling international album in India this year and has been certified Gold in the first week of release.

In a country where the music industry is hugely affected by piracy, any foreign artist selling non-illegal copies and even going gold it's a feat.

Devraj Sanyal, Managing Director at Universal Music India commented:

"It's tough to speak about a diva like Madonna. She is the epitome of everything music stands for and has been for the last two decades. `MDNA’ is a record that will excite the oldest Madonna fans as it will excite the youth with her eclectic mix of electronica & new world pop. The fact that she can still achieve Gold status on launch itself proves that she is and will continue to be the real pop diva of our times."

In more chart related news, MDNA is spending its second week in the Top Ten in several territories, including tAustralia (down to #9 from last week's top spot), Finland (down two steps to #3), while in Belgium the situation hasn't changed since last week and the album is I want to let you know that MDNA is still #1 in Flanders and #3 in Wallonia.

From Billboard.biz:

Madonna earns her record-extending 42nd No. 1 on Billboard's Dance Club Songschart, as "Girl Gone Wild" zips 4-1.

The song is the second topper from Madonna's 12th studio album, MDNA, which bowed atop the Billboard 200 last week with 359,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Just three weeks ago, the set's first single, "Give Me All Your Luvin'," featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., reached the chart's summit.

The speedy return to the survey's top spot grants Madonna her quickest span of back-to-back No. 1s. She had previously linked her fastest consecutive No. 1s when "Vogue" ruled just seven weeks after "Keep It Together" in 1990.

Madonna extends her lead for the most No. 1s in the Dance Club Songs chart's 35-year history, pulling further away from runner-up Janet Jackson, who has 19. Beyonce follows with 18 No. 1s, trailed by Rihanna (17), Kristine W (16), Mariah Carey (16) and Whitney Houston (15).

With her latest leader, Madonna also tallies her record-padding 73rd week atop the ranking.

Here is an updated look at Madonna's 42 Dance Club Songs No. 1s, beginning with the double-sided single "Holiday"/"Lucky Star," which reached the top the week of Sept. 24, 1983. (For titles that spent multiple weeks at No. 1, total frames in the lead are noted in parentheses).

1983, "Holiday"/"Lucky Star" (five weeks at No. 1)
1984, "Like a Virgin" (three)
1985, "Material Girl"
1985, "Angel"/"Into the Groove"
1987, "Open Your Heart"
1987, "Causing a Commotion (Remix)"
1988, "You Can Dance (LP Cuts)"
1989, "Like a Prayer" (two)
1989, "Express Yourself" (three)
1990, "Keep It Together"
1990, "Vogue" (two)
1991, "Justify My Love" (two)
1992, "Erotica"
1993, "Deeper and Deeper"
1993, "Fever"
1994, "Secret" (two)
1995, "Bedtime Story"
1997, "Don't Cry for Me Argentina"
1998, "Frozen" (two)
1998, "Ray of Light" (four)
1999, "Nothing Really Matters" (two)
1999, "Beautiful Stranger" (two)
2000, "American Pie"
2000, "Music" (five)
2001, "Don't Tell Me"
2001, "What It Feels Like for a Girl"
2001, "Impressive Instant" (two)
2002, "Die Another Day" (two)
2003, "American Life"
2003, "Hollywood"
2003, "Me Against the Music,"
Britney Spears featuring Madonna (two)
2004, "Nothing Fails"
2004, "Love Profusion"
2005, "Hung Up" (four)
2006, "Sorry" (two)
2006, "Get Together"
2006, "Jump" (two)
2008, "4 Minutes,"
Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake & Timbaland (two)
2008, "Give It 2 Me"
2009, "Celebration"
2012, "Give Me All Your Luvin',"
Madonna featuring Nicki Minaj & M.I.A.
2012, "Girl Gone Wild"

Perhaps aiding its chart domination, the black-and-white "Erotica"-era throwback video for "Wild" on the Official Madonna YouTube Channel has racked 4.1 million views since its premiere on March 21.

As previously reported, Madonna also premiered the Avicii remix of "Wild" live on-stage on March 24 at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. She spoke to the crowd of revelers and then danced onstage with the Swedish producer as he played the remix.

"I had about three days to do (the remix) and I was in the middle of touring, as well," Avicii told Billboard. "(But), it turned out great."

I never would have thought Justify My Love, Secret, or Bedtime Story would top the dance charts. They mean the remix for Don't Cry For Me Argentina right?

I guess it is, when you give away your album for free to make the numbers look better. Even Lady Gaga's album didn't tank that bad after selling it for $.99 on Amazon.

still doesnt change the fact, yes its gonna happen even with your gaga flame bait

I'm not sure what they mean. I'll have to bow out to Madonna fans who are up on the stats about album singles vs. remixes. I'm just getting back into Madonna world since I stopped following anyone's music in the mid-1990s. I had a lot of fun catching up on Prince and I'm having equal fun catching up on Madonna. Gonna see her in concert for the first time, although I first became a fan with "Lucky Star" an eon ago! lol

Forbes.com is reporting 2nd week numbers

Exclusive: Madonna "MDNA" Will Have Biggest Second Week Drop in Chart History

Madonna‘s “MDNA” album had the biggest second week drop in chart history last week, I am told. When all the numbers are in on Tuesday night, “MDNA” will have fallen from number 1 by 88%–from 359,000 copies in its first week to roughly 46,000 the second week. Wow. The first week’s sales, as I revealed exclusively (and then the New York Post lifted it from us), most of Madonna’s first week sales were CDs that were included in the sale of concert tickets. That promotion artificially inflated Madonna’s numbers, putting her first before Lionel Richie and his “Tuskegee” album. In the second week, Richie fell only 47% and sold about 110,000 albums–which is normal. “Tuskegee” will now finish much higher than “MDNA.” I do think that all the people involved in the Madonna ticket-CD deal should apologize to Richie for denying him his rightful place at number 1, starting with Billboard and SoundScan. But Richie’s consolation is that he has a major hit, while “MDNA” is a total dud. So far, “MDNA” has not produced anything like a hit single either, no radio play or anything to provide organic promotion. But Madonna’s concert tour with Live Nation will be a big hit, so it’s not like we have to worry about her financial situation.

I really don't care one way or the other and can't understand why you do?! I stopped being invested in chart success for music artists about twenty years ago... lol I'm just enjoying the ride and looking forward to the concerts. If MDNA drops off the planet, I couldn't care less... Just glad to have some new songs I enjoy from an artist I discovered 30 years ago and hope the ones I like are performed in concert. That is it! biggrin

It's QUITE obvious that you, like the quack writer @ Forbes.com have a serious problem with the Madonna hate and live in some alternate reality! No matter what either of the two of you say this Album IS a WORLDWIDE success!!! And as far as MDNA not producing anything like a hit single? WRONG AGAIN-both GMAYL and now GGW have hit #1 (that's number ONE) on the dance/club play chart (for a total of 42 number ONES), along with how many millions of views for the GGW video?!? Dud? NOT. BTW, where are Lionel Richie's hit singles from his couldn't think of any ORIGINAL country songs so I'll re-hash my old hits album (which is lame)?

People just don't get it.Madonna doesn't care about record sales anymore. That's why she's not on all the chat shows right now, whoring herself to promote the album. That's why she's not on 'Ellen','American Idol','Good Morning America',etc.Madonna isn't stupid. She knows how to 'play the game' in order to get big record sales, but she's no longer interesed in doing that. She doesn't need to do that.Saleswise,Hard Candy wasn't a huge seller but guess what? The tour grossed over $400 million. On this tour, she's playing two dates at Dodger Stadium. That's where the focus should be...not just for her,but for all of the older artists.Touring is where the real money is at.Let the younger artists sell alot of records...but will they have a tour that grosses over 400 million?

SPOILER!!!!!

The MDNA World Tour will open on May 29th in Tel Aviv and, thanks to our sources, Madonnarama has learned some new info on the setlist Madonna is currently rehearsing for the tour!

If you don’t want any spoilers, look away now, if you can't wait for the exclusive, then enjoy…
Keep in mind that Madonna is currently in rehearsals and that the final setlist might include some changes.

The MDNA Tour opens up with religious chants that lead into Girl Gone Wild. Just like the album version it includes the Act of Contrition intro and also has a new instrumental part featuring whip-sounds and even some Material Girl lyrics. Then comes Revolver featuring Lil Wayne, who will appear in the backdrop video, followed by Gang Bang. The fourth title on the setlist is the first real surprise: an edited version of Papa Don't Preach!

Hung up has completely been reworked to fit the theme of the MDNA tour and next up is guitar-heavy I Don’t Give A featuring Nicki Minaj.
Some of you might have noticed similarities between Best Friend and Heartbeat from the Hard Candy album. You’re not the only ones, because the tour version now includes more Heartbeat references and even some lyrics.

Express Yourself has some HUGE surprises that will have everyone talking, but we won’t spoil these for the moment.
After this we go into the Just Blaze remix of Give me all your Luvin’, followed by Turn up the Radio.

Another surprise on the setlist is a completely reinvented version of Open Your Heart, which is followed by a track from the MDNA album, Falling Free. The tour version is very similar to the album version, but has a more prominent violin sound.

The second part of the show also includes a totally reinvented version of the William Orbit remix of Justify my Love, including new lyrics, and a Nobody Knows Me video interlude.

Express Yourself is a good one and I'm glad they have a version of Hung Up. Miles Away seems like a stretch though--didn't she perform that on the last tour? Of course, we still don't know what wtll be on the final setlist. Can't wait to find out. biggrin
