Those two had fans all over the world, not just America.

I'm aware, but that wasn't really what I was thinking of. Go ahead and say your experience if you live in a country outside of America though.

Oh I don't really have an opinion on their deaths, I just wondered why you had stated that you wanted to hear from American people. Why not everyone?

I know that there are a lot of North Americans who find it difficult to comprehend the existence of a world outside of the USA, I just did not think that you were one of them (if you are North American.)

wink

I'm often surprised to learn that there are members here as young as yourself.

After being on a Mary J. Blige site for ten years, this site for almost five years, YouTube for almost five years and TUMBLR for almost two, the surprise wears off. lol

I guess unless a person writes something really unusual or otherwise inappropriate, I usually just focus on the words rather than the person that wrote them. Often times I'm not even aware of whether the person here is a male or female, unless I've interacted with them previously on the boards. Only sometimes am I able to immediately recognize that someone here is a juvenile. To his/her credit, the OP handles him/her self quite well in a forum of mainly grown-folks (from the limited interactions that I've observed).

But I swear, in just a couple of weeks I will have hit my 10 year anniversary on the Org (...in it's current configuration), and I don't hardly know ANYONE here, lol.

Pac's was distressing because we really did think he would somehow pull through. Biggie's was his own fault because he had no business being in Cali..... Neither's was truly surprising.

That's really it though. My dad thinks Pac's words got him shot and while I can see how it would, I'm like you, I wished he would've pull through.

On this issue, your Dad and I see eye to eye. Although I suspect he and I are very close in age, lol. Then, don't get me wrong; I was hoping Pac would pull through also. But I'm just not so sure that even if he had, if he would have developed any kind of good sense.

Anyone?

They both got murdered my senior year in HS 96-97 and here in Philly it was a bigger deal when Biggie got murdered. His songs got played on our hip hop station the whole Sunday when the news hit. I saw a lot of people in my hood shed tears that day.

Pac's death didn't cause the same reaction here, alot of people thought it was just a matter of time before something happen to him so when it did it wasn't a big shock to most.

Personally for me both of they're deaths shocked me, I was a big fan of both and even as a seventeen year old I thought it was stupid that they both got murdered over some dumb shit.

I wasn't surprised. You live by the sword, you die by the sword.

I find the reactions to their two deaths this very day to be overrated. Much more talented folks' deaths since then such as Roger Troutman, Luther Vandross, Rick James, Teena Marie, June Pointer, Gerald Levert, etc. didn't get near the attention.

I don't think either of them ever shot anybody, but yes I get what you are saying. I'm not inhuman or anything but I was confuse as to why everyone else was so bawl about the whole thing. My college professor talking about it aand shit and class, wasting my fucking time and tuition money.

lol Yeah I dig Pac and BIG but I pretty much reacted the same way lol People didn't have a hard time admitting that when Pac and BIG was alive that "something will happen if they don't shut up." Then all of a sudden they die and people wanna act like what happened with them was immoral because they were "stand-up citizens of society". lol People are funny. They pretty much agree with you when the person is alive but then pushed them to matryrdom as soon as one dies! lol

Oh give me Nikki anyday, I don't relate to her reverence toward 2pac but somehow I could at least stomach her.

Now Dr. Michael Eric Dyson on the other hand, boy sheesh doh! Sometimes a subject might not have shit to do with 2pac - yet amazingly - this negro never failed to squeeze him into this discussion. And more amazingly is how nobody have yet to tell his ass that 2pac's mention doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the price of tea in China, although, knowing his motor mouth condition, I could understand it if folks would rather let it go.
