LMFAOOO! Lord, Barry Gibb is killing me during that bridge...
Also, I contacted Westwood One and asked them about that soundboard from Triumph. They said they wasn't sure if they still had it because it's been so long but they'll look into and get back to me. They said no one has ever asked them about that
Niteline just went off. The album is pretty good in this order but it just........Damn, Carousel just came on and threw the whole damn mood off
I bet you reacted like Michael when he heard the playback.
Like "oh God this bullshit!" Then step aside, Quincy asks you "what's wrong?" And with a tear coming down your face, you're like "we gotta fix this shit!"
I still wonder how the REAL conversation went down between them.
Michael: "This album is some BULLSHIT."
Quincy: "What should we do though, Mike, the record is supposed to be out in two weeks!"
Michael: "Remake the fucking album and take some of that BULLSHIT off, call Rod, we gotta get our shit together, pronto!"
Funny.
But you all know that the infamous mix playback session where MJ lost it already had the final line up in place.
They needed to go back and trim some time out of the tracks - Billie Jean and Lady In My Life especially, to stop the grooves being so crammed and letting the mix breath and do it's thing.
It wasn't a situation of crappy song selection, it was a situation of too much music in the grooves and poor mix / playback as a result.
"I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love"

I have that Westwood one promo. It's the exact same show as the 81 live lp.

Jeffery is really cool. I had the opportunity to talk with him earlier this week. Dude knows his stuff!
There was a discussion about the Triumph tour and he said:
a radio station in LA called Westwood One had a promo LP of a soundboard recording of the Triumph tour at the forum and would play it on the air and some copies were floating around
there are alternate edits of several videos like The Way You Make Me Feel, Bad, Thriller, Beat It, and Billie Jean
Michael recorded the Coca Cola theme song "I Want To Teach The Whole World To Sing" during the Dangerous sessions
Good question. The Westwood promo isn't the full show and has been edited and sequenced for radio spots. Last time I listened it was definately the same show, I'll need to check it out again to see 'bout the overdubs.
I'd love to interview members of Toto and ask them about working on "Thriller".
Aside from Steve Porcaro writing "Human Nature", he and his bandmates David Paich, Jeff Porcaro and Steve Lukather are all over that album musically. The musicianship on that album is as tight as it is, mostly because of those guys.

On the other hand, Michael's falsetto was still lovely. No wonder Barry picked Michael...he can't do it anymore.
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This bridge is killin me softly! I can just see Barry pulling a Mariah Carey and using his index finger to close up that left ear to hear himself hit those high notes!

I got a vivid image of him doing just that!
You notice how when that part played, they IMMEDIATELY cut from Michael and Barry in the booth to them hanging out by the mixer, they didn't want the viewer to see how Barry was hunched over in pain trying to get those notes out
"We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Yessir!!!!
It was like "QUICK, we don't wanna see this fool cramping up!"
Michael submits with so many passion. Honestly I believe that MJ was intimidating anyone in the study. So impressive of seeing, I do not like at all barry's voice here, Michael should him to seeing given a bit of his passion while barry was singing lol

LMFAO! This song sucks so much ass! I'm sorry but Barry's voice is tickeling me to death right now!
Side note: Am I the only one that thinks the beginning instrumental before Barrys verse reminds me of Someone Put Your Hand Out?
LMFAO! I'm back to crying laughing again! It's too late at night for this damn song! LORD! Skip right to 4:00! At 4:07 Barry sings "I can't understand you" I said "you're telling me....."
LMFAOOO! Lord, Barry Gibb is killing me during that bridge...
Sounding like someone ripped his nuts off
yeah his falsetto sounded bad there lol...especially the bridge. michael was on point...did u see michael walking up to the piano player at one point like nono the wrong chords let me do this shit!! Lol.
Can´t take my eyes off MIchael. He is so passionate and into it, yet so sweet and adorable.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I did see that. That's embarrassing when the guest of someone else's song has to tell you how to do it right. Poor pianist. Should've let Michael sing the song by himself lmao
